Arrived safely and well packaged. A solid walking stick, with one or two minor splits, quickly remedied with a touch of superglue, but for some reason the stick has been stained black. Ebony is generally black anyway, and is an oily wood, so the stain doesn't soak in. The result is black hands!I washed the stick down with soapy water, followed by white spirit wipe down to remove as much stain as possible, then gave a quick wipe with boiled linseed oil.It came approx 990mm, so needed to be cut to the correct length. No problem.It really looks the part with a natural shine. Looking forward to making good use of it.

This is much heavier than i expected it’s made from a very hard wood if your looking for a heavy duty cane for hillwalking or even self defence you couldn’t get better than this

Bit over done on the finish but a sturdy handcarved walking stick,a rubber ferral is a must tho the end measures about 20mm for those wishing to oder one at the same time

I wanted a heavy sturdy stick for support... I currently have Plantar Faciitis. This is certainly that. The stick is not finely finished and needed some work with sandpaper and polish but more disappointing was the fact that there was some surface cracking and potential shedding on the body of the stick. I managed to glue mine and perhaps for the price I should have expected some issues.It is a heavy, comfortable, sturdy stick but it may need some finishing when you receive it.

If you're looking for a highly varnished fashion accesory this item is probably not for you. If, on the other hand, you, like me, suffer from osteo arthritis in your knees and require a solid, unyielding, heavy duty support this is ideal. The stick arrives untipped and is suitable for trimming to the required length. After this just fit a conventional non slip rubber ferrule. The knurled section at the top of the stick is ideal for use to lever yourself up from a seared position and the item is solid enough pass on to your children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren. All in all it's a truly good value piece of kit with which I am well pleased.
