Viking Age: Everyday Life During the Extraordinary Era of the Norsemen Hardcover – November 5, 2013

OMG I love this book! Ran across it while doing research for my novel set in the Viking era and this book has been critical for current, cohesive information. While it’s not an exhaustive account, it’s certainly a great quick reference and terrific jumping off point. If you’re looking for a good account of what went on in the down time between raiding abbeys and terrorizing Europe, this book covers the basics of the domestic, intellectual, religious, political, etc, spheres of life as experienced by the people known as Vikings. Very readable with great layout and some very nice pictures. This book will spend a long life on my research/ reference shelf.

This book is particularly useful because it doesn't concentrate only on the Viking sea raiders. It also considers the entire social and political milieu within which they lived; their family life, what they ate, their servants and slaves, their relations with other nations and cultures, and a range of other subjects. It provides a far broader picture than many other sources about the Viking era. Very useful.

Bought this as a present for my dad and he absolutely loves it! He won't stop raving about it and is completely into it. He told me the quality of the writing exceeds other texts he has on the same subject matter. Great book!

I would highly recommend the history book "Viking Age: Everyday Life During the Extraordinary Era of the Norsemen" By: Kirsten Wolf to all middle school students, high school students, college students, university students, amatuer historians, living historians, historical reenactors, history teachers, history professors, historians, and to anybody who really wants to learn and study about the Viking Age and Vikings this extremely easy to read and easy to understand but, extremely informative, interesting, and fun moderate history book about the Viking Age and the Vikings. After reading the 13th warrior, and watching the TV series Vikings, I wanted an incite into the daily life of the Viking era peoples. This book has been a nice introduction into exactly what I was looking for, and not to heavy of a read as to loose me in the first chapter.

This is a fun book that is chock-full of informative facts. I already knew my fair share about the vikings, and this really helped round them out as real people with real problems. (Well, it's pretty obvious that living a thousand years ago constituted "real problems.")I was astonished that the book cost only $11. Even with Amazon's generous discounts, I asked myself, how can that be? Well, here's why it be: the book is cheaply produced in a small, non-glamorous format on cheap paper. I was really looking forward (perhaps foolishly, given the $11 price tag) to a glorious oversized volume with nice pictures on glossy paper. I instead received an undersized volume with nice pictures on potato peels. O.K., I do exaggerate slightly.But the book was still lots of fun. And here's another thing for you to learn: never begin a paragraph with "but."

I finished reading this book and in my opinion it was very fun and very educational to read and I recommend this book to those who want to know about the Viking's every day life.

This is a superbly researched and presented work on the Vikings. A mus tread for anyone researching or wanting to know more about the Vikings.

Un libro interessante ed uno dei pochi ad affrontare l’argomento della vita quotidiana dell’epova. Le informazioni date dal libro risultano utili. Indicato se non si conosce ancora molto bene l’era vichinga vissuta in Scandinavia. Purtroppo, per quello che io cercavo, sarebbero state utili informazioni più approfondite e dettagliate.
