Great book for any aspiring flute maker.
Charlie does a great job of providing all the information you need to make your own flutes. Between his You Tube videos and this book you have everything you need to achieve success. Flute making is not easy and you will need to put in the time and effort to be successful. But if you are willing to put in the work, Charlie has provided all the information you need.

Very helpful book!
I really appreciate this book being written. The info is very helpful for me wanting to craft a flute of my own. Some reviewers have been negative about it not having been structured like a step-by-step lecture or tutorial. It is written in the Native American narrative, or storytelling style. If you understand that cultural point of view while reading it, you can just relax and enjoy the journey.Thank you Charlie and Jesse!

Well-written, Excellent Illustrations and Photos
So far, so good. Well illustrated text. Not as "step-wise" as I might have thought, but the information is all here. As I am a tech writer and routinely write "how to" procedures..... I am probably pickier than the rest with how a "how-to" manual is laid out. As I said, the information is all here, but not quite in the order I would have expected it to be in. The excellent illustrations make up for this though, so all in all I would say this is a great manual for someone wanting to make themselves a Native American "style" flute.

Great How to Book!
Charlie does a great job of explaining the craft of flute making. I made the 4 hole whistle the same day I got the book and really enjoyed making it and playing it. My Grandchildren are having a ball with them.Very easily explained down to earth instructions and techniques.

The book is ok but the author very rude
I had a discount code which was not working, I asked the author, who basically told me in a nutshell, he did not want my Sale as I wanted something for nothing. Disgraceful

Not very technical
This book is more a personal text about how and why the author makes his flutes than a tecnical "how to". Some procedures should be depicted in more detail and accuracy. Same for the drawings and mesurements, but the photos are very good. I miss some biliography and references, and I could skip the author's personal appreciation of Native American heritage and New Age-ish comments. I advice the author to read more technical literature to get an idea about how to write his next book. Not everything is subjective, aproximative or can be left to individual consideration when you write about making and tuning a flute. I would like to see more about acoustics, and why this or that are made this way, and not only because "this works for me" or "this is the way my ancestors did it". These are not acoustic or technical reasons. We are trying to make working musical instruments, not only a cultural totem.
