CANON M50 MARK II photo examples
I bought this lens for my canon m50 mark II. At the time I did not realize the crop sensor would make the lens around 80mm so it has a very tight squeeze to it. The images are insanely crisp and easy to edit. This is perfect for up close portraits or discreet animal/ street photography. Just remember you have to get really far away to get full body shots. All the photos seen are edited.

A great value: sharp, fast, and feather light.
Frankly, I was surprised at the quality of shots I got with this lens as soon it came out of the box. I typically shoot with a zoom lens so I can frame shots more to my liking as I shoot. But with this lens, I force myself to be a little more mobile and do my framing by moving closer or farther from the subject. Otherwise, I simply shoot and crop in post-processing. Yes, I have sharper lenses, but this is a spectacular match for the lightweight mirrorless Canon EOS M-50. I recommend it highly if you are trying to "lose weight" for more convenient air travel. On the new, small mirrorless cameras, this lens will give you superb results for relatively small investment.

Great for video.
Purchased to film talking head shots on my Canon M50II and it really upped my video quality over the kit lens. Autofocus is fast and accurate and image rendition is spot on for both colors and dynamic range.

Used on $500 camera to great effect.
It's kinda crazy how a good lense will elevate an image. Good auto focus, nice smooth manual focus ring. The wide open F/1.4 allows for some precise choices for depth of field, and in lower light. My camera was only $500, but this lens at $400ish is well worth it. I paired it with Sigma's 16mm F/1.4 as well, and for now I think all my bases are covered from street, landscape, and portrait photos in a wide array of lighting situations and bokeh options.

A must-own lens for the Canon EF-M System.
If you’re looking for a lens in the 50mm range for your Canon EF-M System, this lens absolutely delivers. It is super sharp even wide open at f/1.4, and the autofocus is as fast and accurate as anything out there. On the Canon EOS M6 Mk II it is simply stunning.I was a little hesitant about buying a Sigma (3rd party) lens for the M system at first, wondering about possible compatibility issues, but my fears proved unfounded indeed. This lens’ performance is phenomenal, even indoors in low light the autofocus is fast and accurate. Did I mention how sharp it is wide open? :-)I sold my (adapted) Canon EF 50mm STM immediately after buying this lens. There was no comparison. I even have the Sigma EF-M 16mm ultra-wide now. Happy shooting all!J&H

It is just beautiful.
I absolutely love this lens. There is not much to write as you will see reviews of much more knowledgeable people, just buy it. Just one piece of advice: this lens only works for one subject, not for more. Do not take pictures of several people with this one because just one will get the spotlight. You will not regret to buy it.

Great quality. Perfect for portraits.
Fantastic lens! Worth every penny. Crisp pictures/video. Apatite allows for gorgeous depth of field and it works well in the dark. Works with Autofocus and tracking on my Canon M6. No image stabilization, but I knew that.

Upgrade abismal. 10/10.

Awesome addition for all Canon M series cameras!
I have the Canon M50 mirrorless camera. Canon’s dedicated lenses for the camera though well made, are limited in some ways, most notably but their relatively slow apertures. That hasn’t stopped me enjoying them, but I was hoping Canon would bring something new out. Sigma have beaten them to it, and then some!I already own the 16mm sigma AF DC DN lens and thats amazingly sharp and crisp. The 56mm is just as good. Given the APS-C element and the canon 1.6 crop factor the 56mm becomes effectively a 90mm F/1.4 lens, which is great as a dedicated portrait lens. It’s the main reason I bought this lens and I have used it a few times already and it does not disappoint. It’s a great ‘low light’ beast, yet, its physical form is so deceptively small (especially compared to its 16mm sister)The build quality is excellent too, it doesn’t feel ‘plastic’ at all. It forms part of their contemporary lenses family as denoted by the little silver ‘C’ on the camera body. I have been fortunate to use several sigma Art lenses, the big brothers of the contemporary line and I can tell you, the quality and build of the contempory lenses is just as good. This lens is bitingly sharp with excellent contrast. The auto focus is just as good, in my opinion, as the dedicated Canon lenses I have, I havent noticed any reduced speed at all.If you are in the market for a new lens for your Canon M series camera, thats not going to break the bank, that will actually out perform the canon lenses for the M series, then you definitely should consider this lens.Finally... Image Stabilisation. No, this camera doesnt have it. The camera body has internal IS which can be switched on. Bloggers wouldn’t generally use this lens to vlog with anyway unless you were using it to get some awesome b-roll. If you were looking for that, then consider a gimbal, or simply learn to use the lens better. It’s definitely doable without IS with this lens.
