Black Spells and Twisted Souls: An Urban Fantasy Reverse Harem Romance (Grey Witch Book 1)

Holy moly!!! This book surprised the crap out of me in the best way possible. It took me a little bit to get into but once I hit the 3rd chapter, I was done for haha. I had to keep making reading it a reward for doing housework/errands so I didn't sit in my house all weekend and read it haha.I love Kayla and the various side characters in this story! I thought her inner monologue was great and that she was a clutz but not over the top very endearing. I liked the various guys in here, I kept swapping which one was my favorite/hoping that he would be a part of her harem in future books. I loved the surprise tie-in (won't spoil it) but I had to stop myself and look up the other book in my kindle to find the scene haha. I love this word Cece has created and cannot wait for more books in this series and any other series she makes in this world.I have to say I didn't see the sneaky twist coming at the end haha. I thought he was charming and brutish already but didn't see him being so cunning/sleuthy haha. I think I am gonna root for the 4 main guys all being in her harem. I am interested to see who the murderer really was, cant wait for more clues in the next book. Hopefully we don't have to wait too much longer for Book 2 ❤️. I can already tell I am going to have a nasty book hangover after this one. BTW would totally kill to be in Kaylas shoes and wake up like she did at the one guys place haha. OH and I didn't think this book was going to be as funny as it was!! I loved "Damon" and his commentary and behavior in his "familiar" form haha. Totally go imagine the knocking stuff over and clawing scenes haha. Definitely nailed that behavior 😂

I enjoyed this book although I'm not sure how I feel about the characters. This is supposed to be a RH but I'm unsure of all the parties involved. I'm guessing Darren (although he's supposedly in love with her yet for 2 yrs since the breakup he's been taking a different woman home with him practically daily and right in front of her too, yuck), Rhydian who is sneaky and is clear all he wants from her is sex, Kier the detective who spent most of the book wanting to lock her up and possibly the evil demon who wants to kill her and spent most of the book insulting her and threatening her life. I gave the book a 5 because it has a lot of potential and I'm hoping the next book starts picking up a bit.

I absolutely loved the start of this new series from author Cece Rose. It kept me fully engaged the entire read, either with laughter, suspense or intrigue. The MC Kayla I adore. Her sarcasm and clumsy/awkwardness make her an extremely real and relatable character. The guys we’ve met so far for the potential harem are pretty great, and I’m hoping all those I want to end up there will (this author has a tendency to keep the reader guessing on who the MC ends up with in her books). I am eagerly anticipating the next in the series and would absolutely recommend this book. Well deserving of my 5 star rating.

Wow! I've always loved the books Cece Rose has written (solo and co-authored) but this book was the best yet! Funny, captivating, and keeps you wanting more.I loved Kayla as a characters. She's quirky, a little bit awkward, and has the right amount of sass!If Cece Rose doesn't give me more of this book soon, I might need to kidnap her misery style

I need a Solas in my life. Sorry kitty, but you made me laugh stuck in your perfect kitten mode. Our gorgeous fae, I do wonder what that E stands for. Also, why he approached little Grey witch to begin with. So many questions and for the love of goddess... Please go with R or S as your love. Superb read of a fun, mysterious paranormal book. Love it.

Great characters, good storyline, amazing telling.Slow burn, but I can guess potential men in the harem.Looking forward to seeing how Kayla gets past her bad luck, finding a new job, and catching her ex boss' real killer.

This is a really great book. I really enjoyed reading this book so much I couldn’t put it down until I finished it. I love all the characters and the story. I would definitely recommend reading this book.

I laughed out loud at some of the high jinx. Loved the characters, but definitely had some odd typos. Book also ended on a cliff hanger like author is stringing you along. But good mystery overall

I didn't remember much about this book, so I decided to give it a re-read and OMG, it's so good! I don't even know how I forgot about it in the first place!Saying that Kayla is un unlucky witch is the understatement of the century. She's plagued by bad luck and when her boss dies, everything points to her as the murdered. Now she has to deal with a shifter ex who still wants her, a fae who doesn't understand the term "personal boundaries", a vampire detective trying to solve her boss murder and who seems to stalk her, and a moody demon whom Kayla doesn't know if she could trust. She's in for a wild ride!

Oooo, I really love this authors works. I think she writes really well and creates stories that just pull me in. She is all about the slow burn romance and those are my favourite kind of romances. Black Spells and Twisted Souls has a witch as it's main character, however there are all sorts of paranormals in this book living in the real world but humans are not aware of them. Kayla, our main character is working in a mundane job with a boss who really shouldn't be a manager! Kayla gets accused of murder and what follows is a humorous and exciting adventure to uncover the truth. Kayla meets some interesting characters along the way and we find out some of the history she has with characters she already knows. There is also a cross over with a few characters from one of the authors other books, Vengeance (a series I really hope she'll carry on) and I liked the way that was added in. As I've mentioned, this is a slow burn romance and a few potential characters are introduced who could possibly be in Kayla' s harem. I'm hoping they'll all be, particularly the demon but the author is not giving anything away. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series as I really enjoyed book one.

I absolutely loved this book was glued from the first page! The storyline was great and so were all the characters. So excited to read the next book, i'm glad that its already out!

I really love urban paranormal fiction! It's even better that this book is set in London and oh so very British. I love the main character and the secondaries. I'm hoping we see more of Solas in the next book! This must be slow burn because I don't see much of the to dance aspect apart from with the obvious so looking forward to that ramping up in the next!
