Metal Detecting for the Beginner Paperback – March 31, 2009

great book , as a beginner it really helped me to understand my detector and where to go find stuff ! very satisfied with book and recommend it for sure !

I've been with my husband for almost 19 years, and I have never seen him read anything other than work related technical stuff. I ordered this little book for him because he wants information on what to do with his new metal detector. He has read the whole little book, and re-read it.If you're interested in knowing more about metal dectecting, this little book is for you. I know. My husband keep sharing "did you know" facts with me....even if I didn't want to know.

Based on the reviews I had hoped for more but the book's content on the subject of metal detecting is very basic and left me wanting more. The book does provide numerous references to other good resources, books, web site, magazines, etc... for the details the book lacks. The binding on the copy I received was not done very well and pages are falling out after just a couple of days reading, but maybe that's just my copy. This is definitely a book for someone that has no idea what metal detecting is about and as an over view on that subject I would say it provides the information to get you started and were to go to find more information.

just started my research for the hobby. now i have a lot better understanding of how to not waste money on things i didnt understand. will follow books advise and make this hobby, hopefully a fun one. good and simple read. just basics and just enough more to help you understand. im in my 30s and hard working, not a retiree looking for a new hobby, hopefully this review helps you.

The book was loaded with very helpful information.I read it then took my metal detector out in my yard for practice, as suggested.One of my first finds was a mini ball from a civil war era pistol.The book combined with the detector ordered from Amazon and accessories have been a really winner.

I gave this to my husband for x-mas and I ended up using it the day after cuz our dog broke away from his leash and his name tag went flying and landed in the snow....I thought that we'd have to get him a new one or wait till spring when the snow melted, but my husband told me to take the metal detector out and see if I could find the tag, I found it in less than 5 minutes.....Love it ~ :)

Being new to the hobby, I was looking for something that could get me started. This book was not to technical, and provided very good tips that I use during my searches. The information about doing research was the best information because it actually gave you resources to go to in order to find information.

I purchased this book for my husband based on the reviews I read, and I am really pleased with the choice.This book is not only easy to understand, but had my husband researching facts on the internet the very first day he recieved it. The author definitely points out obvious details that could very easily be overlooked by somebody who doesn't exactly know what to look for.I would recommend it to anyone interested in knowing the essential basics, and the steps to take following them.

refers to metal detecting usa /canada not always applicable to uk however some new info gleaned from reading .no technical on how to use or what all the knobs on detectors are for

excellent book and qiuck service.

All the specifics, examples, and links in this book are outdated and pretty much obsolete now. For the generic introductory information, you’re better off just watching a few Youtube videos these days.

Was bought as a gift for our son & as the weather has been rather wet, I don't believe he has had a chance to use it yet, but as soon as the sun comes out, I'm sure he will. Found Amazon price to be the best out there so far.
