Sweet Designs: Bake It, Craft It, Style It

I started following Amy on FB & Twitter about a year ago after seeing her referenced by other party/food people. When I saw that she was coming out with her own book - i just knew it would be great. This is the only book that i have ever pre-ordered before it was released and I am happy that i did.This book is nothing short of amazing and I havent even studied the entire book - just got it this morning. I already love every page so far. The pictures are great. There are pages and pages of ideas. If you are a party planner this is a must have. If you are challenged in planning parties this is a must have for you too. She makes it easy to style an amazing event that your friends and family would be impressed with. She also has pages and pages of resources telling you exactly where to get the things featured in your book - so you wont have any trouble finding these exact items. And then pages of her favorite resources. Basically it is like she is giving you all of her trade secrets. It is totally worth the small investment. As a seasoned event planner for 10 years I have kept my eye on the works of Amy Atlas. I absolutely love this book. More than just eye candy, she shares many recipes and keeps things simple for those of us who are logistics pros and lack the creative gene. I know what I like when I see it, but I can't always be bothered to come up with the design, I leave it to the pros and Amy is one. I have used many of her set ups as inspiration. I've used them for my most important events: my children's parties.I bought two, one to always have handy and one for the library I lend to my current clients. You will be please with recipes, the DIY tutorials and the deconstruction. I was pleased to see so many never before seen displays. I highly recommend this for event planners, brides, parents who have a flair for a fancy kids party... and many more.Kudos Amy! You've done a wonderful job on this book.

After 4 months of waiting I can't tell you how excited I was when my book was delivered this morning. The wait was definitely worth it!!! I discovered Amy a few years ago when I was looking for ideas to plan my friend's baby shower. Her dessert tables were so inspirational and I spent countless hours admiring them. I was totally channeling Amy when I created a dessert table for the baby's christening...it was definitely one of the highlights of that memorable day. I was ecstatic when Amy featured pictures from the party on her blog...it literally made my year! [...]With Sweet Designs not only do you get beautiful pictures of Amy's amazing dessert tables, she includes the inspirations, recipes, crafts and set-up behind them...we're talking the total package! As an admiring and long time follower of Amy Atlas' work, her first book "Sweet Designs: Bake It, Style It, Craft It" was all that I imaged it to be and more. The book features displays of never before seen sweet tables with detailed deconstructions of how to bake her treats, display them, and create your own crafts according to theme. The book is organized into dessert themed chapters which makes it easy and fun to read through! With all of her tips, craft patters, and extensive resource index you don't need to look much further to create a one-of a-kind masterpiece!For anyone who loves to entertain and host unique and delicious parties this book is for you! It's also inspirational to anyone wishing to follow in Amy Atlas's footsteps in becoming an event planner/sweet stylist and it has certainly helped me figure out how to execute and pursue my passion for event planning and sweet table design.

I've been eager to buy this book ever since she announced on her blog that she was writing one! It certainly lives up to all that Amy promised it would be. Every dessert table in this book is broken down in terms of baked goods (including recipes), design elements, craft instructions and tips for changing it to make it work for your event, budget, etc. She also includes lists of tools and products that she uses, provides templates for craft items, and gives contact info for all the resources she uses to buy the items for her tables. The photographs are beautiful and the book is substantial. What you get for the price of this book is definitely worth it! I'm actually very surprised it isn't more expensive! Amy is obviously very thorough in the planning and execution of her dessert tables, and that has translated beautifully into this book! I HIGHLY recommend it!

Absolutely fabulous! Full of colour and designs from simple ideas but when put together, a stunning display is created.Great ideas that you can suit for your own party theme and lots of recipes that you can change for a children's party or adults.I really like this book and would highly recommend it.

I was introduced to Amy Atlas via a friend of mine that is into event design. I must say, this book has become one of my staples, mainly for the basic recipes and just general inspiration. Definitely worth it!

I like this book a lot, it gives some really good ideas for holding themed parties. Some of the recipes I've tried have produced mixed results, but overall good buy.
