I bought this to bore sight an AR-10. I installed the batteries, dropped the sight into the barrel and gently closed the bolt. The casing is a hair too large, and the pressure from the bolt (BCG) was enough to lodge the sight firmly into the barrel. I had to use a metal rod to tap it out with a hammer. So, why the high rating? Well, I reached out to MidTen. They replaced the device and apologized for the inconvenience. Their customer service was great to deal with and followed up to make sure I was satisfied. Unfortunately, the replacement had the same issue. In the end, the sight is very slightly too large to fit my 7.62mm (.308) barrel. But the sight casing does fit in about halfway, far enough to use it accurately - with the BCG removed. I have 2 other Midten bore sight lasers, and they fit perfect and work great. If I have to leave the bolt open to bore sight my AR-10 rifle, I can live with that.

I am using the MidTen 20-Gauge Bore Sight to improve my shotgun mount while practicing in my home. Previously, I mounted my shotgun in front of a mirror or while following edges of walls and ceilings. After mounting, I would check my mount by looking at the front bead on the muzzle of my shotgun. This lead me to the bad habit of checking my lead after mounting my gun while shooting clay targets and resulted in lots of missed targets. I then tried practicing my gun mount by inserting an LED pen light into the muzzle of my shotgun. This allowed me to focus on the target and eliminated the desire to check my front gun sight. However, the projected image of the pen light was too large to discern variations in mounting. I now use the MidTen 20-Gauge Bore Sight. With it installed in the chamber of my otherwise empty shotgun (always check first), I can continue to focus on the target the entire time while practicing and I can detect and correct subtle wobbles in my gun mount that would result in missed targets. Using the MidTen 20-Gauge Bore Sight , I am improving the repeatability of my gun mount and at the same time my scores have improved. So, while I can't comment on how the MidTen 20-Gauge Bore Sight works for bore sighting a shotgun, I highly recommend it for indoor gun mount (low to high) practice.

Well, I purchased this in November of 2022. I was out of commission for a long while. I did use it out of the box last year for the first time after I tripped and wanted to make sure I didn't move my scope. Of course the sight made it look like it was off. So I made adjustments, got out to the woods and missed a buck at 15 yards. I put it away and here I am sighting in the shotgun today using the bore sight. . 2 things I found out. Always finish sighting your weapon with actual rounds before hunting. Don't trust this bore sight. My shots were off 18" down and 8 " right. I rechambered the shotgun multiple times not moving the bore sight and found it was off high and left of center, then high right each time there after the dot was all over the place not to mention it's not a pin point but more like a baseball at 25 yards. It's junk.

Simple: unpack, load the batteries, chamber the bore laser, and align your optics. Took me less than 15 minutes. Range results were true at 25 and 50 meters. Can’t get better than that. Will buy again.

Way off target and not even close to where my gun shoots. If this was accurate I wouldn’t be hitting the target and I consistently place well in competitions.

Worked at home, not accurate the position of laser changes when you rotate it inside the chamber, took it to the range a week after had the batteries removed cause no on or off switch, never worked in the range... Changed batteries and still not working, just a heads up make sure to never fully close the bolt in as this thing will get really stuck in there and you won't be able to pull it off unless you have tools
