Graffiti New York Hardcover – October 1, 2009

I love the fact that the author is a graffiti artist and historian which gives the book a great sense of authenticity. I also love the commentaries from many different graffiti artists as well as police officers who were on the prowl during those days to catch graffiti artists. Awesome commentaries and awesome pictures that helped me relive my youth!

When I saw this book I was kind of hesitant since I have been on a long and somewhat unsuccessful look for a New York graffiti book, but I decided to hope for the best and order this book. Once I received the book I was not disappointed. This book is pretty complete, covering the subways from the early 70s all the way through modern graffiti. What I liked best about this book is that it didn't simply focus on bombing or piecing, it showed both styles of graffiti and explained the origins of each. If you want a good graff book then buy this book, you'll be happy that you did.

I got this for my boyfriend for Christmas. He absolutely loved it! He's really into graffiti and knows a lot about the subject and found that the book had information he wasn't aware of. Pictures and quality of the paper is great too.

I love this book. It's a great review of the history of graffiti. There was so much I never knew about the art. I bought it for my daughter as a surprise gift. Her cousin wrote the book. She loves it and proudly displays it on her coffee table in Denver. It's a facinating book for anyone who appreciates art and the history behind a specific genre.

Great book. If you are into old skool graff from the 80s as well as just a fan of graffiti this book is great. Being from the 5 boros of NYC it was a great book to add to my collection.

I'm from NYC and grew up with graffiti all my life. This book does an EXCELLENT job capturing the timeline, the expression, the artists, and the stages of the art. Great gift for anyone who loves graffiti and/or the history of NYC.

Great book aboutt the history of Graffiti. Plenty of photos and interviews, I really wonder how you can get this book for that price. Iam spanish and buyed this book as a gift for a friends son. He doesnt speak english but he was starting with writing and graffiti and I wanted to encourage him, He loved the book even he didnt understand anything hahaha he was inspired by all the pictures showing the evolution of writing from the very beggining to the new style graffities. Now he is learning english the book is being useful again for him because now he can understand the words in it hahahhaa great great book I recomend it no doubt.
