Book both toddler and parents agree on
One of our favorite books. My son (age 2) loves garbage trucks, and this one is our favorite garbage truck book so far. The rhymes are fun to read, and my son has memorized many of the lines. The images are good as well, but the story and words are what I love. I get so sick of children's books without good sentence structure or story, so it is so nice to see a book with the whole package. The vocabulary is different and varied, so it has taught my son new words, and the way the author varies sentence length and structure helps build literacy. It is a wonderful book.

Great for kids who love the trash truck!
Such an adorable story! I'm sure many kids can relate to the two little piggies in this book who are excited to watch the trash men gather the trash and put it in the big trash truck. I bought this as a companion book to a toy trash truck I purchased for my nephew. The book is well written and the illustrations tell the story very well. The rhymes are catchy and funny. We enjoyed it!

Great kids book!
We’ve been reading smash mash crash almost every night for the last year for my 3 year old. He is obsessed with garbage trucks and this is by far the best garbage truck book out there. It actually may be one of the most fun for me to read, love the rhyming words! Highly recommend!

Three-year-old son's favorite book
My son received this book for his third birthday and it is still one of his favorites, eight months later. Like many boys, he his obsessed with garbage trucks. This book is, in my opinion, the best garbage truck book out there. Trashytown and I Stink are good as well, but Smash! Mash! Crash! is on top. The rhyming in this book is very well done (so many rhyming children's books get clumsy) and the illustrations are bright and eye-catching.My son also owns a Bruder garbage truck, and he loves the fact that he can play with his own green garbage truck just like the little pigs in the book do at the end.

3 year old grandson enjoyed this, but . . .
Although my 3 year old grandson loved this book, I thought it was only fair and I expect him to tire of it soon. The drawings are creative, but too creative for a 3 year old (too abstract). The story is okay, but actually, there's hardly a story at all. Every page has just a few words. For a younger child, I doubt he or she will perceive the pictures correctly. An older child will probably quickly be bored. I would be inclined to give it only 2 or 3 stars, but since my grandson did enjoy it, I'll give it a good rating of 4 stars. I may go back and change this in a month or two, depending on how he reacts when we re-read it. He LOVES to reread many of his books. I predict this won't be one of them, however.
