Wonderful show!
I love watching this show. It’s just a lovely and feel good show. I enjoy watching a few episodes before I head to bed. I could watch easily on Funimation, but this was one of those shows I wanted a physical copy of.I’ve noticed that some people complain about the dub, but it’s done well, and pretty much the only way I watch. Some people are just too concerned about getting a 1 for 1 translation, which is impossible. I can accept some localization in the dub. And it’s not pushing an agenda as I’ve seen some reviews claim. I was disappointed that the OVA episode is not dubbed though.

My emotional support anime
Not gonna lie, this anime is one of those rare cases of being something I go to whenever my depression is at its worse. The animation is lovely, the characters are all wonderful and voiced perfectly, has my all time favorite openings to an anime ever, and it can be genuinely funny. This is slice of life with a fun twist, and while not the most action packed it still is a fun ride.

Sweet and cute and very funny.
So, after a drunken promise a dragon comes to live with loner and downtrodden Miss. Kobiashi. They learn about themselves and each other as they begin to coexist. There's a wonderful balance between humor and the heartfelt moments.I notice some have complained about there being issues with a "rant" on sexism or whatever, but I barely noticed anything other than a stray comment one character says to another one.I'd highly recommend this anime if you want something light, funny and heartfelt. I look forward to the second season coming to physical media in 2022.

Love is love, no matter if it's between the same or different sexes (or species!)
Tohru is a female dragon. Kobayashi is a female human. (A lonely one at that.) Like a lot of us, she yearns for someone to love and to love her, but is reticent to even try to find that someone. They meet when Tohru, mortally wounded in a battle on her world, comes to Kobayashi's world and the two meet while she is dying and lonely and Kobayashi is drunk and lonely. Kobayashi saves Tohru's life without thinking (she's VERY drunk!) and invites her to live with her as her maid once Tohru assumes human form. The fun starts there!

A great and charming show.
A completely charming show made by the great Kyoto Animation studio. A second season of this show was announced before the tragic fire that took 33 lives and their assets they were working on (likely the second season of this show) in April 2019.Watch this show, it really is a masterpiece, and yes, you will want a second season. Let's hope Kyoto Animation can recover and give us that second season as promised, after they mourn the deaths of their friends and colleagues. If they do, it will be a while, as they will likely have to re-create it.

A decent set for a "wicked" series
I'll start off this review by mentioning that the series itself is quite comfortably a five-star title. If you're looking for a cute, endearing Slice of Life anime, it's hard to do better than Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. The one star deduction comes solely from the actual product itself and not the content it features, which I will now explain in detail. The packaging itself is quite nice. The container is well constructed and the four included discs themselves are gorgeous. Each feature a nice engraving (?) of some of the characters in either blue (Blu-ray) or green (DVD). Unfortunately, there is some sort of permanent marking in the corner of my first disc, but it's not worth dealing with a return or anything. The cover paper is reversible and features beautiful official art of Tohru, Kanna, and Kobayshi. Very cute! You have available to you everything of the series that is currently animated: each of the thirteen episodes, the Valentine's Day OVA, seven short specials, and the textless opening/ending credits. As you would expect, the video and audio quality both are stellar... except only on the Blu-ray discs.I'm not sure what went down during production, but it seems to me as if the manufacturer decided to throw in DVDs in as a bullet point and not enforce much quality control upon them. This, of course, is unfortunate for anyone who may not have a reliable way to view the Blu-ray discs. Both video and audio quality are variable and not what you should get for paying upwards of $40 here. Further, they failed to even include the specials or textless credits in the 'Extras' of the second DVD. Shameful, lazy, whatever you want to call it, it's completely unacceptable. Do not bother with providing DVDs if you're going to offer them in such ambiguous quality. If you find yourself comfortable with Blu-ray technology and don't have much difficulty watching the discs then you will be happy with owning this. If you are interested solely in the DVDs then it might be a good idea for you to look elsewhere to get your Dragon Maid fix. As someone who is in-between, I am ultimately satisfied with my purchase as I am more than happy to support the series and its creator, even if indirectly. For a short afterthought, I do feel the need to mention that the English localization of the series is indeed abhorrent and something to avoid. The scriptwriters for the dub completely disrespected the intention of the author and personality of certain characters at various points and often tried to lodge a political message that the creator neither intended nor endorsed. It is also my personal opinion that the performances themselves just aren't that great, though I know voice acting can be subjective as it pertains to anime. Just experience it through the subs and you'll be fine.TL;DR: Series is fantastic. Buy it for the Blu-ray discs. DVDs are laughable. Packing is great. English localization is to be avoided; experience the Japanese voice acting.

Makes you sort of want a dragon maid of your very own...
This is one of the funniest and heartfelt anime I have seen in the past five years or so. All the main characters are great and have their own "lovable quirk" or two. Each episode is filled with humor, a touching moment or two, and somekind of moral lesson. Sure this anime has it's ridiculous/fake situations, but a lot of the things that goes on is very real and relatable. A very heartwarming story about what it takes to be a family and all the ups and downs that comes with it. Highly recommended to all anime fans!

Funny, cute, and entertaining
'Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid' ('Kobayashi-san Chi no Meidoragon') is a highly entertaining fantasy, yuri, slice-of-life comedy series adapted from a manga by Coolkyousinnjya, and while it does deviate from the source in places, this doesn’t make too much difference as there are no long story arcs at this point in the series. The series sees an overworked office lady accept a dragon into her life as a maid and follows the hijinks result as more dragons begin to turn up. This Complete Series set (complete for now at any rate as there is a second season scheduled for 2021 in Japan) contains all thirteen episodes of the anime, as well as the Valantinse Day/Hot Springs OVA. All the episodes in the series are very fun to watch, with my favourites being 'Summer's Staples! (The Fanservice Episode, Frankly)', that features a trip to the beach and Comiket, and 'Troupe Dragon, On Stage! (They Had A Troupe Name, Huh)' where the character put on an odd play for senior citezens. The main series includes both the English and Japanese soundtracks for the series, and while I do like the English version, I think the original Japanese is slightly better. The OVA, meanwhile, hasn’t been dubbed. Of the English cast, all of them do give reasonably good performances, with Leah Clark as Kobayashi, Jad Saxton as Kana, and Jeff Johnson as Takiya probably being the best of the bunch. While still good, I wasn’t a great fan of Jamie Marchi’s performances as Lucoa as I always imagined the character to have a more spacy voice. The animation is proficient for the most part and while there are very few action scenes in the series, the couple that it has are animated and choreographed very well.Other than the OVA, there are no special features in the two disc DVD set that I got except a couple of trailers.'Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid' is one of my favourite slice-of-life comedy series with great characters, some nice designs, and some surprisingly emotional moments. The only real problem with this set is the annoying trailer for streaming services on the first disc that I was unable to skip. Despite this, I feel that this series is easily worth a full five stars.

WELL DONE ENGLISH CASTS(違和感なしです。)
Very unfortunately, the director of this work was killed in a recent terrorist attack on Kyoto animation. One of the characters, “Kanna-Kamui”, who's most cute I think, had been directed by his daughter's behavior, I hered. She never meet her dad. I pray for the 35 souls who loved Kyo-Ani, and best wishes for healing of injured people.

Dragon Maid
Bought on Amazon UK. Arrived in perfect condition, and has a paper sleeve jacket. Keep in mind, this only includes the first season, and not the second. Can confirm it's (only for) region B, and the OVA is included. Along with some shorts. Textless opening and ending songs, and trailers. There is also a reversible cover, should you want to change the look of the case.
