Wired Dog Fence

Good customer service, good fence control, good perimeter line - TERRIBLE collars
I've had this for a few months so I'm not posting this as someone who went straight out of the box with some kind of minor issue. I've had ongoing issues the entire time I've had this system. I would highly advise against getting this for your home until they can get a handle on their quality control.I went through multiple collars before we got two that worked. The company handled the issue very well, so it's not an issue of customer service. The issue is with the product itself. Once I got two working collars, they ended up going wonky too. I've had them shock our dogs when they weren't anywhere close to the line, and that is NOT good at all. I'm specifically training these dogs to not leave a certain area and one shock away from the fence line is one shock too many. When they do approach the fenceline, I can't get the collars to give a warning beep but instead they just go to shock instantly. Again, this is not what the product is supposed to do and affects the training. You need to talk to your manufacturer and get this fixed. I spent way too much money to have them mess up like this. Also, beeping when you turn them on and off is not good as the dogs hear them turning on and off which is similar to the beep they get when they get shocked. The on/off function needs to be by lights, NOT sound. There needs to be a vibrate function and there isn't one. Any decent shock collar out there has a vibrate function and for most dogs, that is all that's needed. The batteries are hard to get to with those tiny four screws and replacing them is a whip. The batteries that come with the original unit are not strong enough to fully activate the collar. Get a different battery mfr to send with your product or don't send any at all. Batteries not included is still a viable option. Of course the recharging option is probably best and is readily available in most collars nowadays. The collars are simply terrible. Since that is the most important part of the entire system, they make the system worthless.

BAD, lots of issues
Consistent with many of the other bad reviews, this is a very inconsistent product. We have had it for four months and have had so many problems with it, and finally today the collar quit working completely, the battery terminal disconnected. Some of the issues... occasionally (in the middle of the night, thank you) the transmitter starts beeping uncontrollably for no apparent reason and it sounds worse than the most annoying alarm clock or smoke alarm. Also the collar is inconsistent, sometimes our dog gets zapped right next to the wire, sometimes 10 or more feet away, sometimes not at all and she gets out of the range completely! Defeats the purpose. She doesn't know what to expect. She has had days where she wouldn't even leave our porch because she was so afraid of getting zapped, due the fact that you don't know that day where it will zap. Lots of issues, can't remember each instance but we have clearly not been happy with it, do NOT recommend it, and sure hope the company will give us our money back as we will be trying to do. Now we are stuck with our dog not having a reliable boundary.

Worked great until the collar stopped working
Initial response/review:I got this wireless fence for my lab 2 years ago. The wiring took some time install into the ground, but didn't run into any issues. The electric box has worked great without any problems. You are able to set the boundary limit - in the lowest setting there is about a 2-4 ft buffer area around the fence which will initiate a shock on the collar when it comes within range. The upper limits increase the area. There has been one or two instances in which a portion of the wire that was above ground has become cut (by lawn mower) and the receiver box will alarm once the connection is interrupted. This system has worked wonderfully to keep my dog in the yard. After a couple days she learned her boundary. I put up the flags but if your dog is fairly smart, they will figure it out without the flags. I have kept the collar on the lowest shock settings and she responds well. I can tell that it doesn't hurt her but just is a annoying reminder for her to stay in the yard. She has ran out of the yard on several occasions. Firstly, when there has been another dog or something interesting of that sort she will bolt out of the fence then not come back in. I have remedied this by increasing the shock level on the collar. Secondly, I have let her in the yard without the collar on for several days in a row, she finds out that she won't get shocked and will wander off the perimeter. The wiring that comes with this product was not enough for me. I have about 2 acres of land that I wanted to fence and had to buy extra wiring. Batteries do not last very long with the collar. I bought standard 9v batteries at first, but had to replace them every 1-2 weeks - expensive. Then I bought rechargeable batteries, which worked great. But then the collar started giving me issues (see below). Finally, the collar that came with the system is very flimsy for an active dog, so I bought a more durable collar that would attach to the shock box.Updated response:The system has worked great until now. The issue I have is the collar suddenly stopped working recently. I have tried multiple different batteries and opened up the collar but nothing seems to be wrong the connections or anything, except that it will not turn on anymore. Very disappointed in this product. Tried contacting Friendly Pet customer service but have not heard back from them. A new collar will cost about $40, but I don't think I want to buy their brand now unless they can assist me further.2nd Update:Still no reply from customer service. In addition, their email is no longer working. DO NOT BUY.
