Gemtune APPJ PA1502A 6N4+6P6P tube headphone amplifier (Silver)

This is a great little amplifier, but let me qualify that. Some have pointed out that it does not come with a power cord. This is true, but also not a big deal. $7-$12 for a really solid cable that can handle the power and grounding the amp needs will be money well-spent. I'm almost happier that I was made to choose a good cord and not given some cheap string to shove in the wall. Second, and perhaps most importantly, the Chinese tubes that come in this are on the bad side of okay. They get the job done (technically), but they hum, the reproduction is lousy, and I don't think that, for $180 or however much this amp is going for, that's worth complaining about. I've put some new Tung-Sol 7581As in for the power tubes (fantastic) and a brand new and beautiful Tung-Sol 12AX7 in for the audio tube. The clarity is exceptional, and that statement does not need qualifying. I've owned the amplifier for almost two years now, and I never used it much until I put those tubes in. I can't stop listening to my records again; It's like I'm re-learning what some of my favorite songs sound like. I'm running an Audio-Technica AT LP60 for the turntable and Audio-Technica ATH M50 headphones. Overall what most would consider a "budget" setup, but I can't ask for better than this!

Amp arrived in package sans AC adapter cord. Am now the owner of a two hundred dollar paperweight.

A nice tube headphone amp that sounds good and works well.

This little amp hides big surprises. Just replace the 6n4 with a JAN 12ax7wa. GO ahead spend a thousand or more for this sound. . but if you are interested in value and big performance, this little headphone amp is just plain amazing,, you cant do better this little amp. Just amazing truthfully.
