"Tammy is a popular high school cheerleader whose new boyfriend, Michael, might be the love of her life. But Tammy's jealous ex, Billy, won't stand for anyone coming between him and 'his' girl, so he and his friends kidnap Michael, leaving him to be mauled by a lion in a local wildlife reserve. Comatose and at death's door, Michael's body is stolen from the hospital by mad scientist Dr. Wachenstein, who extracts his brain and implants it into a giant robotic T-Rex. Horrified by his predicament and new dinosaur body, he escapes from the doctor's lab and begins brutally killing his former bullies. Meanwhile Tammy and her best friend Byron start searching for a suitable human corpse in which to re-transplant Michael's brain

This review pertains to the standard blu-ray release by Vinegae Syndrome
"Tammy and the T-Rex" is a 1994 comedy directed by Stewart Raffill (Mac and Me), starring Denise Richards and Paul Walker near the beginning of their film careers. The film's basic plot involves a high school cheerleader whose boyfriend's brain gets put in the body of a robotic tyrannosaurus rex by a mad scientist. Originally filmed as a hard R rated gore comedy, all of the gore was removed from the original American release to instead get a more family friendly PG-13 rating along with censored dialogue. The uncut version was released in some international territories though. The film was made with their collective tongue firmly in cheek but without the gore comedy sequences in the PG-13 cut, lost a lot of its intended humor. Unlike "Troll 2", this film was intended to be goofy, nonsensical and odd. Denise Richards (who looks gorgeous throughout) was in her early 20's when she starred in this film, and delivers a fun, sexy and bubbly performance that really grounds the film. The sadly deceased Paul Walker is not in the film that much before his character's brain gets transplanted into the T-Rex though. The rest of the cast is clearly having lots of fun with the material.Flash forward to 2019 and cult, exploitation, and vintage erotica blu-ray distributor Vinegar Syndrome obtained the rights to Tammy and the T-Rex. They scanned and restored the original R rated gore cut (1 hr. 30 min. 51 sec.) in 4K which was shown at a few fim festivals prior to debuting on blu-ray and 4K UHD in January 2020.As far as picture quality goes for the standard blu-ray release, the film is presented in its original 1.85:1 aspect ratio utilizing the AVC codec featuring a beefy bit rate often times staying the mid 30's even getting into the low to mid 40's during some busy sections. (Strangely enough though, the R rated cut features an alternate title card stating "Tanny and the Teenage Rex".) Simply put the film looks amazing. Detail, colors, contrast, and black levels are impeccable. (I have read online that the 4K UHD release features even more detail should you have a 4K player.) People used to seeing the film on VHS back in the day will feel like they are seeing the film again for the first time. I doubt the film has ever looked this good. Hats off to the fine people at Vinegar Syndrome! (The disc is region free.)Audiowise the film is presented in DTS-HD master audio 2.0 sounding clear and punchy. English subtitles are included for the hearing impaired.Extras are as follows:• Audio commentary with director Stewart Raffill and producer Diane Kirman• “Blood, Brains and a Teenage T-Rex” - an interview with director Stewart Raffill (22 min. 12 sec.)• “A Blast from the Past” - an interview with actress Denise Richards (11 min. 31 sec.)• “Having the Guts” - an interview with actor Sean Whalen (12 min. 12 sec.)• “A Testicular Stand-Off” - an interview with actor George Pilgrim (25 min. 07 sec.)• Full length PG-13 cut of Tammy and the T-Rex (sourced from video) (1 hr. 22 min. 36 sec.)• Reversible cover artworkSome people online are bemoaning the fact that the truncated PG-13 cut was also not presented on this release fully restored as well. While that would have been nice icing on the cake to an already stupendous release, I think it is a nice retro touch that takes me back to watching the film on full frame VHS back in the day. The video source used for the PG-13 cut is perfectly watchable. For fans of "Tammy and the T-Rex" or cult cinema in general, this disc is a must buy. Vinegar Syndrome has rescued this film from obscurity to give it a new lease on life as a funny bona fide cult classic. Highly recommended!

Better than Jurassic Park
What could be scarier than an escaped T-Rex hunting for humans on an island in Costa Rica? How about an artificial one with Paul Walker's brain seeking revenge after being murdered as a result of a love triangle? Jurassic Park may have more CGI, but it doesn't have the heart or (occasionally literally) guts of this film. Paul Walker, Denise Richards, and the rest of the will take you on a wild, funny, and occasionally touching ride that you will never forget. Seriously, you'll need therapy to forget it.For those who have only seen this film on secondhand VHS bootleg tapes, this Blu-ray features a new, HD transfer that is probably better than this movie deserves. The highlight for me was the director's audio commentary track. which explains everything you ever wanted to know about this film.If your teacher or professor ever makes a comment about the intelligence of dinosaurs just remind them that the one in this phone figured out how to use a payphone, even with those tiny T-Rex arms. Come to think of it, this film may actually be a documentary.

Don't miss out in this. Old school, cheesy, hilarious horror.
How have I never seen this?! Great late night drinking movie. The effects are hilarious... The story is ridiculous. It's a good time the whole way through. Watch it if you like absurd old school horror. The cast is awesome, the weak link being Billy. Some of Denise Richards and Paul Walkers best work.

RARE JEM...
I had heard about this movie but never saw it. Found it on Amazon and was not disappointed. I loved this movie. Paul walker in his first film as well as Denise richards. Two high school lovers fall victim to the local bullies. Paul walker is in a coma when an evil scientist tricks Denise saying he can help. Instead, he puts Paul's brain into an animationic T-Rex. T-rex Paul is having a hard time adjusting and goes on a path a revenge. Surprisingly violent and gory. The T-rex robot is laughably bad but in a good way. All the actors look like they are having a blast making this film. Movie has one of the weirdest strip tease endings ever.

4K 1950's parody fun horror movie made in the 1990's
I didn't know about this film before seeing and buying it on 4K. The 4K transfer is good though not excellent. I thought that was ok since this was obviously a 1950's era fun-horror movie. Actually, it was shot in the 1990's! Regardless, it's tremendously fun, particularly since the clunky special effects make since since the T-rex is supposed to be a mechanical contraption, not a real animal. The story line of course is beyond ridiculous. But it's still a hoot! Hey, I love T-rexes, whether real or not. This is an incredibly funny movie, particularly when projected in 4K onto a large wall screen with full surround sound. A rampaging good time for all!

Was SO much better than the YouTube multipart version
Been looking for this ever since stumbling across it on YouTube and finally discovered the DVD/Blu-Ray combination pack!Offbeat comedy/scifi where the hero is beaten by his girlfriend's possessive ex-boyfriend and left for dead, but is stolen from the hospital by a deranged mad scientist who wants to put his brain into a robot dinosaur.Yes, it sounds stupid (and it certainly is) but we're talking Denise Richards and Paul Walker in their misspent youth here!Talk about a difficult relationship, but somehow the unhappy couple seem to work through the rather massive stumbling blocks on their way to a somewhat bizarre final solution.

The movie looks great in Blu!
I love this movie. It's so much fun and has everything I could possibly ask for. Watched it years ago & was hoping that one day it would appear on bluray & here we are. The transfer looks amazing, especially considering the age and budget of the movie. The gore is still top notch in my opinion. Well worth a purchase.

Walker The T. rex
I am NOT saying this movie is 5/5 stars ... because if wanna watch a film staring a young Paul walker and Denise Richards in which one gets his brain implanting into a giant robotic T. rex ... I mean if that excites you - this movie is a 5/5 haha ... to everyone else ... say a girlfriend thAt feels “the notebook” should be watched every Valentine’s Day ... it may not even receive a number. But - blu ray looks great... I had a blast with this film. Some great extras on he disc to. Pure 90’s. What was with all the weird indie Dino films ... I think whoopi G even got in one lol

Als C-Movie Splatter-Comedy Trash funktioniert "Tammy and the T-Rex" letztendlich hervorragend. Wer ein Freund von Toxie ist, sollte auch diesem T-Rex eine Chance geben. Oder vor wem Denise am Ende des Films leicht bekleidet tanzt. Wenn das interessiert, muss sich jedoch den Film anschauen.

They knew exactly what they were doing
This film is ridiculous. And it totally owns it. Pretty sure it gets funnier every time I watch it with a group.
