Broan-NuToneResidential Central Vacuum System Power Unit, 650 Air Watts

Bought this to replace Nutone Model CV-353 installed circa 1987. On a positive note, the new unit is much quieter than 30 year old unit it replaced. Gave 3 stars because this model is supposed to be the replacement to the replacement for the CV-353 - yet the suction inlet did not line up between the new and old units. Installing this new unit required me buying and installing PVC fittings and tubing to "re-plumb" to the the new unit. Why move the lines? Not a huge deal if you are modestly handy, but for a many folks, re-plumbing this by themselves will be a bridge too far. Also, be forewarned that the fittings and tube are special vacuum tubing and not compatible with plumbing PVC tubes/fittings. They vacuum PVC and fittings are not easy to find locally - you will likely need to order them online...

Hard to argue for the money, but don't expect this to last years. My biggest complaint is the use of cheap plastic clips to hold the bin in place. These latches feel like they could break at any time. It would have cost the manufacturer literally 2 dollars to install metal latches instead. The plastic adapter for the vac bag is equally cheap and easily broken in the future. I'm ok with this unit as its at our beach house - if it were at our day-to-day home I would return it and spend the extra hundred bucks on one that would last. Also, the mounting bracket does not match this unit - even the graphic in the instructions shows as work-around to make it fit. It's tiny, and probably weighs less than 10 pounds total - by comparison to the Beam it replaced, this thing is made of tin-foil.

Bearings failed after 14 months in service. We vacuum about once every 2 or 3 weeks. In between our i robot Shark tries to keep up with our active lifestyle. Wish I could send an audio clip of this thing!!! Bummer it failed, even double checked the foam filter that protects the motor, it is in its place and clean. Double bummer, silver lining that we still had the old Kenmore to finish the job.... it has been thru 9 years of the same stuff and this unit failed after 20 months.

Way quieter than my Nutone. More suction and the bags mean not having to deal with dust and dog hair. Very happy.

I'm surprised, arrived quickly and easily mounted in my garage. Great suction out preformed my old unit, 3200 Sq ft house and did a great job at the furthest point. Well satisfied. Very quiet unit can not hear inside when using.

INSTALLED WHERE WE HAD OUR FIRST ONE. EASY TO INSTALL. WORK REALLY WELL. A LITTLE SMALLER THAN OURLAST ONE, BUT IT'S PERFECT.

Quiet and powerful! My wife loves it and that's all that matters. Happy wife-happy life!!!!!!!!!!!
