The Love Guru
S**.
Yes
I'd watched this movie when it first came out, and I remembered I was quite touched by it in an odd way, but I couldn't remember how or why. After all these years, I decided to watch it again, this time biased with the poor reviews given to it.While I do agree that the movie is quite charged with silly jokes and it's just plain stupid at moments, I was able to remember why I'd enjoyed it all those years ago. It's got quite a few important messages about self-love and self-respect. That is basically what the whole movie is about.Wonderfully, this time I was able to understand that for Deepak Chopra to agree to be in this movie, there must have been a reason. It makes absolute sense, that in order for Western societies to feel compelled to watch this movie, it had to appeal to the meanings and symbolism in said societies, in a way or another. And what better than a game of ice hockey, business management and some romance to lure the publics in?There is definitely more than just a silly comedy and it's there in plain sight, filled with very important messages. And I think that makes the movie worth the watch and the few times it'll make you laugh.

Very underrated.
This is not Austin Powers with a new character but the movie is touching and there are some laugh out loud belly holding moments. The tone is slightly off as I think they tried too hard to inject an Austin Powers like vibe into this, probably because of the studio pushing. It works best at the feel-good level, funny with deeper messages. The more silly moments actually take away from the film but the overall story is pretty good. The best parts are the real feeling of connection between the characters and if they focused on that more I would have given it 5stars. Still it's worth watching.

Ridiculous comedy by Mike Myers about healing a hockey player's psyche to win the Stanley Cup
The Love Guru was a total flop in the theaters but I think it’s a worthwhile comedy. It features Mike Myers as Guru Pitka. It’s a romantic comedy as he falls for Jessica Alba as Jane Bullard, the owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs. She hires Pitka to help her team win the Stanley Cup by providing therapy to her star player Romany Malco as Darren Roanoke. He has problems with his mother Lillian Roanoke played by Telma Hopkins and his wife Prudence played by Meagan Good. His nemesis on the ice is Jacques Le Coq Grande of the L.A. Kings played by Justin Timberlake. John Oliver is also featured as Pitka’s agent Richard Dick Pants, Stephen Colbert is Jay Kell a sports commentator, and Verne Troyer, who appeared in the Austin Powers series with Myers, is Roanoke’s coach Punch Cherkov.Myers wrote the movie along with Graham Gordy. They went with the multiple jokes per scene theory and it really worked. Some of it is slapstick. Some of it is sight gags, but most of it is just funny and often times immature jokes. The ending which is the Stanley Cup Finals is especially good. I’ve never watched hockey but I found it entertaining. If you liked the Austin Powers trilogy starring Myers you’ll like The Love Guru. Timberlake and Colbert deserve special mention as well. Timberlake plays an over the top French Canadian hockey player that loves Celine Dion. Colbert makes ridiculous comments about sports in every scene he’s in.Overall, The Love Guru is all good fun.C

filled with very intelligent puns and references
Absolutely genius, filled with very intelligent puns and references, incredibly entertaining and hilarious. My guess is that the reason isn't getting as many good reviews is because it does not follow the standard hollywood cookie cutter story line, which is very predictable. This is excellent. If you are an outside the box kind of person you're going to appreciate this one. Very unique.

No.
Mike Myers laughs extensively at all his own jokes, as if under legal obligation from the studios to remind us that yes, technically, there are jokes.Colbert and Gaffigan did make me laugh once or twice though.

Ouch.
No doubt that Mike Meyers has a place amongst the most impactful comedic actors of all time, but the whole thing feels convenient, juvenile, and out of touch. It comes off like a 90 minute fart-joke.

Career Killing Movie for Myers Doesn't Hold Up
This movie might have been tolerable (but still not funny) back when it was released in theaters, but wow, this type of border-line racist humor/stereotypes doesn't fit in AT ALL in today's cultural climate. All that aside, the jokes are just more of Myers' toilet humor that were growing stale at the end of the Austin Powers series. It's even more wince-inducing and disappointing in 2021. Skip this one.

Stupid, Annoying, Not Funny
This movie struck me as stupid, annoying, and not funny. Mike Myers Guru character's voice alone is annoying and the stupid nonsensical things he does with his assistance and other people are stupid and annoying, opposed to funny.

I liked it. You might like it as well
The bottom line is: this movie made me laugh. I am glad I bought this movie because I can see myself watching it again and laughing again with it.If you like Mike Myers you should give a try. As you can see, some people hate it, some people love it. I think this movie has an undeniable charm, and if you want to find another excuse to watch it Jessica Alba looks very cute, and Justin Timberlake does a good acting job.I am into B movies and world cinema, but sometimes it's just really difficult to find a fun movie that has such a feel good factor as this one. Oh well, yes, it's a little bit dumb, but I had a great time. Sit down and relax, take it easy. It's not gonna be always about war dramas and psychological thrillers. Don't you think?

Five Stars
Very funny movie and even funnier if you understand the subjects being spoofed, AND it co-stars Jessica Alba. Awesome.!

Great
Excellent movie. Delivered quickly, states I need to add more words but what else can I say? Had a cuffufle initially because I was supposed to click brand new but clicked most expensive good as new but that's my own fault and for a couple quid can't really complain. Disk works perfectly, no problems.
