Stop Calling Me Beautiful: Finding Soul-Deep Strength in a Skin-Deep World

good but doesn't really explain HOW to go into depth and a bit disjointed
Like: easy to read, friendly tone, desires to go deeper with God, desires other women to desire the same, shares her personal stories, recommends Jen wilkin (which I DO like!), made it clear, as those of us who have read a lot of books geared to women) that just being told we're special daughters of God isn't much of getting to know God and we need to dig deeperDislikes: shares her personal stories (started to seem like Lysa Terkeurst in this area - same 'shallow' problems that happen to all us women(ok I'm older and more jaded that I was when I was younger LOL!),the stuff she started sharing personal-wise was very personal and vulnerable and didn't reallymake sense in the description of the book or did explain how to 'fix' anything really. for example, s he discussed sexual addition of masturbation and a detailed discussion of how God designed sexual desire but aside from knowing a fellow woman struggled with this, it seemed out of place and just came out of nowher it seemed.I gave 4 stars instead of 3 where others said pretty much the same thing, but i think it's worth reading. I don't feel like I wasted my time but I still think women are being pandered to in keeping things 'light' and improving our self esteem and getting past our past 'trauma' and 'trauma' is whatever we want to call trauma. I just finishd a book by a puritan from back when and that guy was blunt and to the point! nowadays it's 'girlfriend this and that' though this book is better - a lot better - than most in this area.

great read
I’ve followed Phylicia since before her blog post about leggings. I can honestly say I wouldn’t be the person I am today without her ministry. This book is yet another great read! I have recommended it to friends who are stuck in the legalistic approach to things like “quiet time”. Phylicia is full of grace AND truth. She strikes the balance between being kind and also real when it comes to following God and walking out our faith. My only regret is buying the kindle version so I can’t lend it out.

It's time for a change!
I've followed Phyilica for years and was excited to hear she was releasing a book based on her viral blog post. As a mentor for women's ministry leaders, I can say with authority that Phylicia's experience with pink, fluffy women's ministry is all too common, but thankfully changing. This book goes far beyond the surface level problems with women's ministry and today's Christian culture and dives deep into the real issues. Phylicia is not afraid to tackle the struggles women face - legalism, sexuality, shame, anxiety, and more. Weaving her own experiences with Bible passages, readers are encouraged and given hope.I highlighted many passages, but this is one of my favorites - "Shallow Christian teaching keeps women from fulfilling their Great Commission purpose of Matthew 28:19-20. But when these same women seek out discipleship and theological understanding, their lives and relationships are transformed. They no longer have to make a difference, they are the difference in their communities."This would be a great book club book as well as a personal read for any woman wondering if there isn't more to Christianity than what they've experienced so far.

game. changer.
I have followed Phylicia's ministry/platform for a few years and it is no exaggeration to say that her efforts to speak truth and to teach have been absolutely fundamental to an enormous shift in my faith. She is challenging and instructive, thoughtful and inspiring -- Stop Calling Me Beautiful is no different. It is a wonderfully accessible and insightful book that is great to savor page by page, and share with really any teen or woman in your life. I thought for so long that I had true faith and knew "enough" and Phylicia (& what is reflected in this book) literally blew the lid off of that. I cannot easily put words to the heartbreak, disappointment, and shattered pride that her teaching has brought me...in the best ways. Starting at the roots, growing back up stronger, with discernment, with knowledge, and an authentic heart of faith and passion to be a disciple of Christ. SCMB is just a small piece of her amazing work, but it is certainly enough to spark the whole-heart change a lukewarm believer like myself needs. đź’ś

Brilliant Book
I loved the truth the author explains about what makes a woman truly beautiful. She shows us how superficial the usual use of the word beautiful is and how limiting this is for a woman who trusts Jesus. I’d definitely recommend this book.

Beautiful
This book is so beautiful, and it's funny to say this as the title is "Stop Calling Me Beautiful". I love the points Phylicia Masonheimer makes as she describes the true gospel and what Christianity is meant to be and look like. I have definitely learned from Masonheimer. I will cherish some of her quotes in this book for a long time.

It changed my life! Es hat mein Leben verändert!
*German below*Honestly, this book is life transforming. I have never read a book which inspired me so much to actually get up and spend time with the Lord. I read the book with my best friend. We always have been passionate about our faith, but we realized in so many areas of our life God has no say in it and we're not really free! Actually putting him as my first priority and also giving him all my shame, let him be in every area in my life I understood what it means: "his victory is a lifestyle.". Also I can recommend her driven women grace-based productivity course! It helps so much to actually implement my daily primetime with the Lord. Thank you Phylicia! This truly changed my life, because now my focus really is on Jesus, rather then just trying but failing and of giving up to set my focus on him!".I have recommend it to so many of my girlfriends! I would just love, if I could recommend it to men in my life too. So much truth, that I know men must hear too!
