Emerson MW8999RD, 0.9 CU. FT. 900 Watt, Touch Control, Red Microwave Oven

i have NO CLUE WHAT ARE ALL THESE BAD COMPLAINTS! this does its job,and the color if your into red and black kitchen appliance etc. this is just PERFECT,we love it.This fit perfectly as i have nice wrap around kitchen alot of room in kitchen to just leave it right in the Corner area,by red blk waffle maker as well as toaster!i love how shiny it is,TRUE color IS DEFINITELY on the store site here.it is the TRUE color.NOT FIRE ENGINE RED,NO.but a lovely shade of shiny burgundy red.simply gorgeous just right.Fits all i am trying to warm as to be utilize in our home as such dishes to be warm up,or hot lemon tea,cocoa snacks for kids,teen girl love her popcorn micro in our home,as well as other small dish to warm up etc. excellent color,love how it is burgundy black mix,red etc just gorgeous!the price is SO right.TARGET Done good with this product,as Amazon.com say it might take 10 days i got it within 6 so i am happy.regular shipping,since i know TARGET do not ship at all,rarely same day i hate that,so i went to amazon.com and again they never let me down. i love this red and black micro-oven.great size NOT too small not too big.just perfect beautiful blend in my kitchen other red/black appliances,as i bought this recently with red black OSTER TOASTER from here amazon.com BOTH are just wonderful and match my beautiful red blk oak nice kitchen.gorgeous...i will recommend to buy it while your able at this low fair price it does its job.Amazin'price once again from amazon.com for a GREAT product.5 stars easy.....

I purchased this microwave a bit over a year ago, to go with my red kitchen. I was so excited as I'd been looking all around for one, and this one fit the bill perfectly. I loved the black with the red, as our range and dishwasher, etc are black, but the red really spiced it up, and added a flare I loved.However, throughout the last year, anytime I'd run the microwave, and something else was on/plugged into that particular circuit, it would flip the breaker. We couldn't figure out what was going on, so we'd just flip it back and chalk it up to "happenstance".Then it started arcing electricity when it was turned on, and the light show rivaled that of Pink Floyd. That was it for me. I do cheap, I don't do fire hazard. In the trash it goes and lesson learned.Please save yourself the trouble and heartache of a broken machine and the possibility of a house fire as well and go with another brand.

We've had this micro for about 1 year, and use it everyday. It looks great in the deep red color, but, and this is important: it makes sparking sounds when not in use, as if something is shorting and about to catch fire.I don't recommend this particular model- do yourself a favor, get something else.

This was a pretty reliable unit for almost ten years. About a year ago it started acting up. The interior light and the carousel would keep going when the door was open. That problem would come and go at random. Now the unit won't start. I think the two problems are related to the door latch, which has a design I don't like. To open the door, you just pull on the handle and the hooks disengage. I'm guessing that over time the wear and tear of that process breaks down the switch that tells the unit if the door is open or closed, which could explain why the unit wanted to keep running with the door open and then not run with the door closed. I would prefer a design with a button (either on the front of the unit or embedded in the door handle) that disengages the door hooks, so that's what my honey and I will be looking for when we go shopping. This was our second Emerson. The first one lasted fifteen years, and it had the kind of opener button our current unit lacks.

This is a decent microwave, with the added bonus of being red. It's got a disconcerting keypad -- pressing numbers 1 to 6 starts it cooking that number of minutes -- but after RTFM, it's not hard to figure out how to deal with that piece of poor design.It cooks well, doesn't overheat like some microwaves and it doesn't take up much real estate. I like it.

I don't kno why all the negativity about this cute little oven, it heats w/ 900 Watts and I had a 1700 Watt that took 2 minutes to reheat 8oz cup of coffee, this does it in 1 minute. The defrost cycle does a better job than my old 1700 W, it only lasted 6 months for 3 times the value of this Lil' Red. I hav owned mine almost two years and it hasn't failed me yet, I bought another for a friend for a Christmas present this year. I own a lot of Emerson products, TV, DVD recorder, iron, refrigerator, electric stove, etc. If they (Emerson) made automobiles, I be the 1st too buy one. It looked like it was stolen out of someone's apartment, it was all beat up, scratched up. I bought it for someone else and they got it and never mentioned it looking like it did then i see it today and asked what happened and they said it came that way and they just assumed i bought a used one...

DO NOT BUY THISWhy 2 stars? Because when it works it works well.When it doesn't work is when it's stuck on "Defrost", which is almost constantly! There is no way to get out of it, I have to hit the reset button maybe 20-30 times in hopes of it clearing. You can try unplugging it, but this little bugger keeps it saved. Sometimes it will only let us use the "30+ start" button which is better than nothing.My fiance bought it at target after our roommate moved out with his. We didn't do any research, I mean its a microwave usually they work until they get old. This microwave was used for only 4 months until this Defrost issue happened. Since we're not getting married for 2 years we might just get a new one rather than ask for one on our registry because this is so frustrating since we use it a lot.
