An immediate and clear improvement, even though I got stuck with a bad pot
This is a very well thought-out kit, and I honestly enjoyed wiring it up. The fact that it came with both PTFE and cloth-covered wire is a very nice touch. I used the cloth wire for the leads out to my jack, and PTFE everywhere else. The new fourth-position, with both pickups wired in series, gives my Telecaster a much different sound that should come in handy. The instructions are *very* clear, although I must confess that I got halfway through wiring the switch before I realized I had it upside-down. Whoops. The only real problem I ran into was with one of the pots. The pot that I used for volume (they're both the same kind) worked fine at full-volume, tapered off nicely as I backed off, but right at the bottom, where it should be totally silent, it jumped back to full volume. I double-checked all of my wiring with a continuity tester and found that at full counter-clockwise, the center lug was bridging to both lugs.I opened up the pot, by bending back four metal ears, did some investigation, and found that the wipers were shorting against something at full CCW. I ended up bending and trimming them a tiny bit, and that fixed the problem. I didn't use a too-hot soldering iron or otherwise abuse anything, first time I've ever seen that. Weird. All in all, though, this is a great kit. This went into my Mexican Telecaster, which I "upgraded" with some new pickups a few years back, and didn't exactly fall in love with, partially because I poorly soldered them in on top of the stock wiring harness. Once I got this in, the guitar came to life like it never had before. Now I'm thinking about ordering another wiring kit for another guitar that I suspect could be sounding a lot better.

Great set up.
I was building a "T" style guitar and I was looking for a good all in one wiring kit. I had seen a few others and then I saw this one. The price was right so I purchased it. Boy I made the right choice. This kit is great. Very nice components, good directions, and was very easy to install. The pots are nice quality. It comes with 2 types of wiring, typical wire that you have to strip, and "push back" cloth style as well. It also has a "tone bleed" circuit too. This is a great set up. I had purchased a set for an "ST" style guitar as well and it worked great. I will buy this again and would recommend this highly.

Great parts for great tone
I was thinking that I was in need of new pickups in my 2001 MIM Tele due to some filling out of the tone, but someone suggested to start by replacing all the wiring, the pots, and the switch. I’m glad I went this route. The 4-way switch adds an extra option that really sounds like a neck humbucker pickup, so that’s very useful for me. However, have a small file on hand...the slot in the factory plate for the switch didn’t quite let it engage in the #4 spot until I filed and lengthened the slot just a touch. All around great kit with great quality parts. Pretty convinced on buying a kit for my 96 Strat now as well!

I LOVE the 4th position so much that I don't know ...
I added this kit to a China made Fender Squire Telle and - WOW - what a difference. I LOVE the 4th position so much that I don't know if I've moved it off of it since this kit has been installed. This has brought so much more life and tone to the guitar that you would never be able to tell that it's just a cheap Squire. I would, and already have recommended this kit to several other players. The only downside I had is that these parts are standard sized and since I had a Chinese Squire I did have to do some minor modifications. The pot shafts are a bit wider, so I did have to drill the face plate out just slightly. The same goes for the mounting holes for the new switch. I did follow some peoples advice and also slightly widened the slot in which the switch uses so I know I have the full range of movement without any restrictions getting fully into the 1st and 4th position. The other modification I had to do was to slightly enlarge the holes of my tone and volume knobs since the new shafts are slightly larger. I did NOT have to hollow out the body cavity at all to make the switch fit as some have mentioned. All this being said, I don't believe any modification would of needed to be done if it wasn't a Chinese made guitar. Also, one could simply get around this issue by purchasing a new switch plate that's made for standard sized components instead of metric. But hey, I enjoy a good project and it makes the guitar even more "mine" now.

Good Kit
This is a good kit with quality parts for about the same price or less than could be purchased separately. Only reason for 4 star instead of 5 is lack of 500k pot option. It seems the only difference between the SS2 and SS3 kit is the paper wiring instructions for different switch/pickup positions. In my opinion it would be better to make the kit hardware different and include the alternate wiring instructions in both. A kit with 250k pots for "vintage" tele pickups and then a kit with 500k pots for for those who have hot or humbucker pickups in their tele.

Game changer
What a difference these made! I have a cheap Squier Tele and this made a huge difference in overall sound quality. Much better bass response and doesn't sound nearly as trebly. You can swap out pickups all you want but if your electronics are junk they won't do much good. The new 4th position is pretty killer and I find myself staying there for most of what I play. Comes with more than enough wire and they provide you with both plastic coated and cloth coated, so double the amount you need in case you mess up. Installation is pretty easy and directions are straightforward.

I recently purchased a "boutique" reissue which sounded sweet. Upon further review
Folks may tell you that replacing your electronics with high quality components won't make a difference. It does. I recently purchased a "boutique" reissue which sounded sweet. Upon further review, the pots, cap, and switch were really cheap knockoffs. I made the switch to the new wiring kit in one evening and brought the guitar to life! It pays to know your gear and what goes in it. ToneShaper provided me with the proper U.S. parts with clear instructions for the DIY'er. I will use them again in the future. Amazon delivers the best! Bravo!

Great 4 way switch
Having fitted the kit, I’ve found that the 4way switch intermittently worked in 2 positions? My immediate thought was the switch, I mailed tone shaper and received really helpful response. The issue was a dry solder joint which was quite hard to spot. My fault. Now it’s up and running I would recommend any one who fancy another switch option and the full kit to do it.

Selettore difettoso
