Q: Is this knife made in sheffield? which chef knives in the taylors range are made in sheffield?

I bought a Quantum Santoku (Q306 12cm/5") it is not made in Sheffield, but China. The description mentioned Sheffield and lead me to believe it was made there. However when the box arrived it had made in China. The knife is good. I just wanted it to have been forged in Sheffield.

Hi, Thanks for your question. This knife can be sharpened in the same way as any other knife. The only difference is that Japanese knives tend to have a slight different blade angle. So if you have a desktop sharpener you will be able to use it. However, please bare in mind that all of the desktop sharpeners actually 'hone' the knives, they don't technically 'sharpen' knives. Honing aligns the blade, which makes them feel sharp again. Knives should be sharpened properly with a whetstone (or similar) every few years and honed around once per week.
