The Most Natural Addition to Tennant's Run You'll Find
Having just recently got into Big Finish's audio adventures for Doctor Who, you quickly come to realise it is very much dominated by the classic doctors, particularly Tom Baker to Paul McGann, as it is their opportunity to have more stories beyond their time on the TV series. This is fantastic, and I have enjoyed listening to their stories. But I am a Doctor Who fan who grew up on the stories of Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant, so for me, the opportunity to extend those avdentures was exciting, and it didn't take me long to realise these were my favourite of all the Big Finish stories I had listened too so far.The great thing about these is everything about them just feels so naturally like a part of Tennants run. These stories could honestly slot straight into Season 4 and you wouldn't even notice the difference. Tennant and Tate are absolutely brilliant in the return to their respective roles and their chemistry is so good it feels like they never left their roles. But more importantly, everything about these stories just feel so naturally like Tennants stories. The music, the sound, the supporting cast, the writing, the cheesy villains, the Doctor and Donna themselves. As someone who grew up watching Tennants stories, these are a real treat to listen too, and if you are a fan of his run as the Doctor, this pack is honestly a must have.Of the three stories, to me, Time Reaver was probably the weakest, but that by no means means it's bad. I just found the other two to be much stronger. Technophobia recalls to me the Earth based stories of Tennants run, and Death and the Queen is a great Donna focused story where the Doctor takes a bit of a back seat, even if the cheesiness of it does get a bit overpowering at some times. Time Reaver is fun but just a bit generic for me and it feels like it has less stakes. Regardless, all three are a treat to listen too, and a lot of fun.If you like David Tennants run as the Doctor, and especially if you liked season 4, this pack is a must have, and a fantastic continuation of Tennants run. With another pack coming out with Billie Piper, I am eager to hear more from Tennant in the future, and hope he keeps making more Big Finish for a long time to come.
