Do not buy!!!!
We bought this as a gift with another D.V.D. both were utterly useless, this disc sent the player into a state of not working for several days. We bought them as a gift and sadly recipient did not like to tell us until we enquired and then it was too late to do anything about it. I would not even give this a single star if it were possible. Buyer beware!!!!!.

Beautiful
I loved this film after just 15 minutes. The score (often opera), the performances, the locations, the focus on it’s characters and their situations as well as it’s beautiful photography all make this a strong memorable film. The story is set both in early 1900s Florence (around a small group of English people visiting). The second half of the story takes place in the peaceful backdrop of Edwardian Surrey. The film in keeping with Edwardian Fashion tends to avoid primary colours in it’s costumes, instead preferring blacks, whites, browns and greys. However when strong colours do appear they’re pretty striking. For a film that was released in 1985 the Blu Ray does a superb job at presenting the film with a pleasing finish. The aspect ratio is full screen and music and dialogue are all clear. The film is perfectly cast, Maggie Smith is superb and Helena Bonham Carter is also effortlessly brilliant as the young headstrong but inexperienced protagonist.

What a load of old rubbish.
This was on the telly to pass time until the next programme. From what l saw of it this is the biggest load of old drivel you ever did see.No action, fighting, just a load of boring old farts talking a load of old drivel. Can't understand people wanting to watch such trash, and a waste of electricity having something like that on.The best part of the film was the adverts.Avoid and save your money.
