Better than the original… b/c my check engine light is now gone!
I paid for this product in August 2016 (11 months ago) on a different Amazon account, but I am reviewing it here because this is my primary place for reviews.BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT: An excellent replacement cap that can take care of the pesky P0456 check engine light issue. This would be my first stop free check engine light emissions issue.WHAT IS THIS, AND WHY MIGHT I WANT IT?: If your check engine light has come on, this might be the solution you're looking for. I have a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country, and my heart sank when I saw the yellow light with the accompanying “ding!”It's easy to discover the actual engine code (without a code reader) by simply turning the key from off to auxiliary (that's right before it cranks when the radio comes on) 4-5 times. The code showed up is P0456, which is a “minor emissions system leak.” My Google-fu told me this meant either a leaky hose or a gas cap gone bad… the simple solution that many recommended was to replace the gas cap. $20 is a cheap alternative to troubleshooting costs, especially in the off chance it could fix it right out the gate. I figured I didn't have a lot to lose.ASSEMBLY: This does come with the piggy tail that allows you to attach it to the car. I simply used a pair of pliers to get the old one out. This one popped right in and fit perfectly with no issues.FUNCTION: These gas caps have a very small though seemingly magical, recirculation future that the engine can detect. When that seal is broken, then all those scary evil environmental killing gas vapors can escape. So instead of saying “replace the gas cap,” they have you guess. Thankfully, when I put this on the van, the check engine light went away almost instantly. If yours doesn’t, you can get your check engine light to reset, just disconnect the battery for a good 60 Seconds. You may lose your radio presets, but it will give you a clean slate on the computer.BUILD QUALITY: To be honest, I cannot tell a difference in the build quality between the old cap and this one. It is literally as good as OEM.WHAT YOU GET: A gas cap and a piggy tail.WHAT YOU DON'T GET: A new car!PRICING & VALUE: The reality is that if you go into the dealer or mechanic, $20 becomes a very small part of the puzzle. There's a good chance they will try replacing the gas cap anyway. So worst case, you can purchase this, put it on your van, and then just tell them that it's brand-new when you take it in to save them from troubleshooting this aspect of a potential leak. Best case, you'll be like me and fix your problem!BOTTOM LINE: An excellent replacement cap that can take care of the pesky P0456 check engine light issue. This would be my first stop free check engine light emissions issue.

Corrected the trouble code P0456
2010 Chrysler Town and Country. For the past year or so, at least once a week the car randomly gave a check engine light with code P0456, which is an indicator of a small leak in the emission system. It also sometimes gave another error about gas cap. Most of the info I could find on this problem pointed to either a defective gas cap or a leaky vapor hose near the gas tank. I decided to try the easier cheaper fix first and replaced the gas cap. OK, it worked. The error has stopped showing up. It has been about a month so far. I don't know what was wrong with the old cap. The rubber ring seemed fine. The cap design is kind of strange, there is no feeling of "tight enough." It just clicks and spins. The new cap feels about the same in this regard. However, the trouble code has gone away and so I am happy.

My Dodge Caravan got the dreaded check engine and the ...
My Dodge Caravan got the dreaded check engine and the first thing I did was buy a new gas cap from a national auto store for around $10. After three days the light was still on and I figured I would have to get it fixed at the dealer. I bought this cap as a last hope in avoiding a large car repair bill and it worked. The light did not go off right away but after two trips it went away. My advice to all is to skip the quick fix at the auto store down the street and wait the couple days and spend a little more to receive this product.

Perfect!
Bought for a 2003 Chrysler Town & Country. Fits and works great! SO much better than the one I got *elsewhere* that kept my engine light on, and made me struggle at the pump to get back on EVERY TIME! 😬

it worked the light went off in the dashboard.
Dealership wanted to charge me $135 just to do a scan on the vehicle to see why the light would not go out on dashboard. I replaced the gas cap with a Walmart version and nothing changed. Tired this one and after the 2nd time using the car the light went out. I am very happy it worked.

Still getting Engine Light on dash - perhaps not as frequently
Bought it to make the engine light go away on the dash. I would say the light comes on about 30% of the time. Right solution? Still not sure - vehicle runs fine.
