Good value, and looks good.
Yes, it is plastic. But the transparent parts are glass, unlike many of the metal lanterns, and glass is more transparent and doesn't get cloudy with age. I've had a number of metal lanterns, and the metal always deteriorates after a time and looks terrible - after a while you can't undo the screws, which is why I bought this replacement. The screws connecting the backplate to the lantern itself are admittedly short for the duty - however, I would suggest placing a small blob of blue-tack behind them, particularly when installing on a rough surface - this will keep the screws forward so that you can connect the nuts to them more easily - it will compress as you tighten the nuts. Some people have problems with the room for the electrical connections - although I didn't have a problem, I find that Wago connectors make the connections simpler and quicker, and furthermore can be secreted into the body of the lamp more easily. I'd buy another of these over the metal version any day.

Elegant and functional
Elegant, functional and reasonably priced. Very good light level. Placed over the steps by my back door so if I do need to go outside after dark I won’t slip. Good quality

Look ok but....
Didn't realise these lanterns were made of plastic, the last ones I purchased from here were black aluminum and more robust. The glass panes are real though which strikes me as a bit odd, I would assume that they also would be clear plastic. I fitted one to see what it looks like, mmmm... It looks cheap to me but I know it a plastic fitting. It functions as it is supposed to but my preference would have been aluminum for a more robust fitting. I fitted one about a month ago and found that the backplate being too weak and flexible has bowed due to the weight of the glass. Now it rocks in the wind A positive thpught though is it doesn't need earthing as there are no metal parts. You could easily make it look a brushed brass or antique effect by gently wiping the edges with a sponge lightly dipped in copper or light olive coloured paint. As long as the paint is suitable for the plastic, Humbrol or Airfix paint is suitable.

Cheap plastic Rubbish
Very dissapointed with the quality of the item when we received it. Very lightweight plastic although it does have glass panels. The top does not screw on but instead twists and this does not lock. When it is windy the top blows off it. Very poor quality. Buy a different one

Cheap
These are cheap, all plastic construction. They look well bit I would be concerned about how waterproof they are. If I was doing it again, I would go for the resin ones.
