Minimalist Checkbook Cover - Full Grain Leather

After wanting a really nice soft leather checkbook cover for years, I finally decided to treat myself to this one. I was looking for just a standard cover with the two slots, one for the checks and one for the register. But I could not decide on which color to get. The brown and black looked too masculine. I am generally not a red person, but the the wine seemed the least masculine one out of the four choices. So I went with the red wine hoping it would not be too red for me. Well, not only was it not too red, it is actually much more muted in color than I was hoping! It is really a deep maroon color, which is a more masculine color than I wanted. I am going to keep it because I do like the feel of the soft leather, it is a very nice quality and the leather smells wonderful, but I think there should be more color choices that would appeal to woman. I worked as a bank teller for 25 years and women are the ones who do the majority of the family banking! (And shopping!)

Except for the yellow envelope that this checkbook cover was delivered in screams of high quality... the box, the packing inside the box and then finally the checkbook cover. I got the Brush-Off Coffee and the fading between the lighter and darker brown is very nicely done.It took a little wiggling to insert the back flap of the checkbook into the cover but that is due mostly to the thin back flap on the checkbook.The plastic separator fits nicely.Another reviewer complained about the embossed logo being on the front of the cover but that is easily taken care of by inserting the checkbook into the other slot... and now the embossed logo is on the back of the cover.This quality checkbook cover will last many years.The only downside is the price... a little high for a checkbook cover. I know it is a high quality checkbook cover but it still is just that... a checkbook cover.

Why continue to use the cheap vinyl covers provided by the check printing companies, when you can have a lovely leather cover for a very reasonable price? This cover (I went with "wine") is very nice leather in a well-made cover. I was not interest in credit card slots...I just wanted a high quality leather cover - this is it!

This review is for the HISCOW Classy Bifold Standard Checkbook Cover. A lot of checkbook covers on Amazon have been advertising themselves as useable for 6"x 3" checkbooks. This one IS, YA! My checks and register fit perfectly. There is no loop for a pen but plenty of space for one. High quality stitching, thick leather..it's really beautiful. And the presentation...wow! The black cardboard box comes in a black sleeve. When you open the box you find the checkbook placed inside a folded black weaved cloth. Really nice presentation.(Please not this checkbook does not come ready for duplicate checks)

This checkbook cover is nice in appearance. The feel/texture is buttery-soft. It does accomodate a full book of checks, and the check register booklet quite well. However, it is NOT full-grained leather. It is an almost paper thin SPLIT leather. It is NOT 100% leather. The interior has a 2-1/2" X 6-1/2" strip of split leather that is sewn into a completely cloth liner, and that strip is only there as the center fold/stress point. If you ever change your checkbook style from top -tear checks to side tear checks, you will have to change from this cover as well, as this one does not even have the left-side "slit" in it to accomodate side-tear checkbooks. My old chain store checkbook cover of 15 years, and at the whopping cost of $8.98, even has the top-tear/side-tear versatility. And unlike this HISCOW cover, my old and worn cover is stamped "genuine 100% full-grained leather". Additionally, at this price point, I would have expected to see at least some double stitching work. But, not so with this item. If you ever pop one single stitch, this cover will be on it's way out! No, I'd say that for $30.00 your money is of much better value being spent on the true 100% leather checkbook covers that are out there. If only looks and presentation are important to you, rather than longevity, versatility, and true value, then this might be the checkbook cover for you. To me, this item is way over priced for what it actually is!

I got the dark/navy blue, the color is great. But it's disappointing. It smells odd and the smell is nothing like leather. It's softer than the free cheapie covers you would get with check orders, but not as soft as the nice leather one I had which I cannot find the brand anymore. Not worth the money...it's almost 3 times as much as another one on Amazon that looks exactly the same, but with a different name stamped on it. I thought this would be higher quality but it looks the same. I would not buy again.

This is a really well made checkbook cover. The leather has no imperfections and is very soft. The quality is just outstanding. Standard checks and register fit perfectly. I didn't need the plastic divider, but it's a nice touch for those who want it. You will love the feel of the cover and it's looks. Highly, highly recommend it.

Cheap, cheap, cheap. In all regards. Hubby decided to keep it, I would have sent it back. NOT RECOMMENDED.
