Perfect for my needs!
I recently purchased an older car in pristine condition. It is dark blue, a color I swore I would never purchase because it tends to show dirt and every scratch. Despite these concerns, the condition of the car was too good to for me to pass up, so I bought it.When out driving, I can protect my car from scratches and dings by parking in remote areas of a parking lot. At home, however, it is a different story. If I want to park the car in the garage, I need to park next to my wife's minivan, and no matter how conscientious she is, her minivan door will eventually come into contact with my car. That's why Door Shox is the perfect solution for me.I purchased Door Shox specifically for use in my garage. I've had it about two weeks, and I think it is going to work perfectly. Anytime my wife will get home later than I do or plans to leave before me, I put one of the Door Shox door guards on the passenger side door of my car. (Usually, I take a bottle of auto-detailing spray and wipe down the area where the Door Shox will come into contact with the car to prevent dirt from getting under the magnets and scratching the car.) I just leave security cable dangling since I don't have to worry about the Door Shox being stolen from my garage.I've gently tested it, and it looks like it will work well. The coating on the magnets is soft enough that I don't think they will hurt the car, especially if the car is kept waxed. When I'm ready to leave, I simply remove the Door Shox from the car and use the magnets to store it on the side of the old refrigerator in our garage.I purchased the valet edition because I don't need the full side protection offered by the standard edition. The only downside to the product for me is that it is sold in pairs, where I really only needed one door guard. That said, the protection offered for the price still makes this an exceptional value. I will either keep the second door guard in the trunk if I ever need it away from home or give it to a friend.Overall, I think this product will work well for anyone with needs similar to mine.

Genius product to protect your car from door dings!
I bought this product before I left the car dealer with my new car. My inconsiderate neighbors had trashed my old car with door dings (the one picture is of my old car after it had already been repaired twice!) and I wanted to protect my new investment. The Door Shox is perfect for protecting my car from door dings! Door Shox is a removable magnetic car door guard that provides amazing car paint protection. DoorShox has scratch resistant/covered magnets so it is not permanently stuck to your car's expensive paint. It is fairly thick so you do not need to overthink how high or low you place it on your car. You can easily and quickly stick it to the side of your car when you need to and store when you don’t. I love the feature of a security cable with a suction cup at the end so I can secure it inside my car to deter theft of my Door Shox. I can't always get the suctions to work but can close the door on it and still get it secured. I actually bought 3 for each side of my car ( yes, my neighbor is that careless) so my car is well protected on each side! I have highly recommended this product to many of my friends!

So far they work
Only used twice, but so far so good. Easy to use. I got the valet ones. I only need for one side of car when I park in my parking spot. The two cover the front and rear door. Magnets won’t scratch your car.

good quality, might get stolen
I ordered the valet edition to protect my car from being both dinged by my neighbor (on opening their doors) and scraped as well (they park by Braille). I am very pleased with the quality of the item--feels light but solid, with pretty strong magnets.I have three critical comments:1) the security wire could be cut by a thief with a good pair of clippers; the wire will only protect against unprepared opportunist thiefs. Since I have an outdoor urban parking space, there is a substantial risk--but it's one I'm willing to take.2) I applied a thin plastic door-rim protector to my car doors (so I don't ding my neighbor's car). It is difficult, but not impossible to close the door over the security wire with that door-rim-protector in the way. Luckily, I have a 5-inch space near the door-handle with no rim-protector, and that's where I try to stick the wire usually. If your door-rim-protector is continuous and thicker, you may be forced to cut away a small portion of it so you can close the wire in the door. When I close the door with the wire hitting the door-rim-protector, it slightly damages the plastic coating on the wire; this is something to keep an eye on, as an uncoated wire could cause slight scratches to the car here and there.3) The suction cups on the security wire seem pointless. I could not get them to stick at all; it would be impractical to try each time I reattach the door shox. Further, they are unnecessary and make the door shox security wire look somehow cheaper and more vulnerable (more tempting). I don't use them. I would prefer large hooks on the end of the wire instead so I could hook it to my inside-door-handle; that would make installation easier, and the precise form of security would be somehwhat hidden.Despite these issues, I think it's a good product. I am willing to buy another set if these get stolen. Now I can ask my neighbors to fix our car without worrying they'll just redamage it again.

Use with some caution
The suction cup that sticks to the window is very weak and I can't get it to stick. This led to one instance where the suction cup fell off as I was closing the door, and the little bead piece got trapped between the closing door and the car. This ended up denting the car where the door closes, and the paint chipped down to the metal frame some time later and led to rust on the metal frame. Finally noticed it recently, and touched it back up. I don't use the DoorShox anymore since it's such a pain to put on without a reliable suction cup.
