Excellent value and good quality photography LED light
I bought this LED light for use with my Nikon D3300. I wanted the flexibility to use it for still portrait photography and also for video recordings in poor light. The light performs well in both modes. I have attached two photographs of the same subject to highlight the difference this light actually makes. It is far more versatile than a flash and a lot cheaper. I was impressed with the quality of the product given the price and I will definitely buy other Esddi products again. Please note you will need to remove the battery when not in use otherwise it will discharge.

Robust & great design.
As soon as i got this video light out of the box, a box which is well presented and smart looking, i was struck by the clever design of the video light.I own a few video lights now, mostly Samtian branded lights, which are fine, but these from ESDDI are designed with a bit of thought. First off, let me begin by talking about the 3/4 thread tripod mount. Most just screw into your light, with a wheel to tighten the light to the mount, and that is it. We have that here, yes, but we also have a notch in the base of the light, and a protrusion on the mount itself, this locks into place making sure the light does not swivel on the mount if its not tight enough. Clever that, why dont other light manufacturers do this? Also, the hotshoe is made from metal, not plastic, another bonus! Then we have the filters, which are not held in place by a small magnate, but by grooves allowing you to slide it in most securely. The filters are also pretty good, not just warm up filter added, but green, pink and blue filters are included, which is great for adding splashes of colour to lights to give a bit more versatility. Also, at this price range, you rarely get a digital readout, but we have on one this machine. It is not a deal breaker, but it is nice to have and it shows at a glance how much power your using. It feels solid, there is barely any play in the light when placed in your hands and pressure is applied, very sturdy and well built. The actual light itself is bright enough for my needs. I am a self portrait artist, and mounted on a light stand, slower shutter speed than usual, but this is fine, i can shoot portraits at 1/20th easily, with an ISO of 600 or there abouts, with a wide open aperture of f/2, it does the job nicely. The LED bulbs themselves are flush with the front of the unit, not set back like some are, so you get a really nice fall off of light around the edges, unlike some LED units where the LED's are set back further in the unit, which gives weird shadows around the edges of the highlighted area, almost like having the light shoot through a window blind, not pretty, but this unit does not have this issue.Another thing i really like is the fact it can be charged via USB, which is handy when out in the field and you need to recharge.Again, at this price point, it is well built, cleverly designed and extremely practical, i am so impressed with this light, i may buy another one in the near future!

Very bright LED light.
It comes well presented in a nice box with everything you need to get you started. It is a very bright light and with a variable dimmer you have a very good range of brightness allowing for a wide range of uses such as a filling light for shadows or as a main light. I tested it by leaving it on full brightness until it ran out of power. It retained full brightness for 60 minutes and continued to be bright for a further 30 minutes. It started to fade after that until the battery was depleted after 2 hours of use. It only got slightly warm during that time and the cooling system works well although I’m not sure the cooling system is nothing more than some slats in the casing. The battery did take a long time to recharge after it was completely depleted, 3-4 hours but spare batteries are widely available on this site including ones made by ESDDI themselves but you may want to consider getting a power adaptor if you intend to use this light in a regular location. This is a versatile light that can be used on the hot shoe on your camera or on a tripod and with the coloured filters supplied you have an opportunity to get creative with light.

A great "Home-Studio" lighting set-up
I've always wanted an alternative to using flash when photographing family, especially children, at home. Put simply, flash can be stark. It can also be unpleasant for them. So both the photograph and the child can suffer. Then I came across this piece of kit.The photographs hopefully give an idea of what comes in the kit and how it looks in action. Note the battery (twice as big as my Canon camera battery), the power of the light and the effect of the coloured diffusers. It comes with a link piece with a hot-shoe attachment one end and a tripod mount at the other. This is fine if you want a video camcorder type of light on the actual camera as shown. However I intend to use it with the alternative method.Portrait photography is best with gentle oblique lighting. So I will use the light on a tripod from the side or at least obliquely to light my family's faces. This is what I mean by using it as a "Home-Studio". It should be noted that although it attaches to the hot-shoe of a camera, it doesn't fire like a flash. It is switched on independently and set to the brightness needed using a press & rotate switch on the back of the unit. This is not a complaint just a clarification. This is the whole point really - it is a fully adjustable light source, not a flash!

Making video like a pro!
As an estate agent producing video tours, I soon realised that good lighting is vital. Otherwise, walking into a slightly dark room on a sunny day will make the camera struggle to balance light levels and it lurches from one extreme to the other. Thinking that I would be looking to spend over £100 for a lighting solution, I started my search on Amazon and was pleasantly surprised by the voume of choice and low prices. However, the ESDDI LED Video Light was the best one I could find that included a rechargeable battery. It's a really powerful light and I also use it for taking still pictures - much better than using a flash, which gives a harsh 'lightening' light. The video light has transformed my Lumix camera into a serious looking piece of video equipment and I'm getting great results. It's very well made and the price is very reasonable for what you're getting. Happy to recommend it.
