I normally would never buy things like this, because I don't eat them. However, I baked cupcakes for a bake sale at work. It was for Easter and I needed something festive. These were not old or stale I ate some they tasted just like regular sprinkles. The little eggs are just like a pressed powder, sort of like a sweet tart. The only thing I highly recommend that you do if you're going to use these is make sure you sprinkle them on as soon as your cupcakes are frosted. I frosted some of them and then sprinkle this on. There were four left over and I couldn't get them sprinkled for about a half hour while the frosting had begun to set and they wouldn't stick so I had to mist the cupcakes with a little bit of water to get these to
