Kaffe Fassett's Simple Shapes Spectacular Quilts: 23 Original Quilt Designs Review: A Favorite - Eons ago the Victoria and Albert Museum in London introduced some of Kaffe's remarkable work and I have followed him ever since. I adore beautiful, fine antique quilts in subdued colors, Amish quilts, and Welsh trapunto quilts, but also love Kaffe's vibrant color palette and playful sense of design. There's room for different design approaches and color combinations. The concept of using a simple shape to best effect deeply appeals to me, so this book is a favorite. I'm a newcomer to sewing quilts and flipped for the Kilim, based on triangles which looked easy to cut out and stitch. Silly me! Totally forgot that there are 2 bias edges to each triangle that have to be managed. YIKES. Persevered and so pleased with the result. Next project was easier and lots of fun--sewing strips of different widths and lengths from scraps for 2 large pillows felt resourceful and satisfying. Try one! Review: inspiring - I even bought this in hardcover. That's hardcore. There are "projects" but I think of this as a book of design ideas. I felt like an amateur artist instead of a ruler junkie when I read this Design, colors, a use of both cool and hot palettes, the construction has gentle warnings "this is not a quilt for a beginner" Unless he/she is using robotic sewing arms. Always a pleasure , always full of ideas . This is so far from the sharpest points, most evenly stuffed binding end of things it reminds me why I love to make quilts. Is it to get "better points"? How about playing with shapes and colors and making something that is occasionally beautiful and always a learning experience. Inspiring.

Another fabulous book by Kaffe Fassett
I am an "unconditional" admirer of Kaffe Fassett. This artist is gifted with extraordinary talents and creativity. He is a genious of color and design, who can create glorious combinations with colors that would in other hands clash irreparably. I will eventually buy all of his books (not all readily available, unfortunately), as I consider him a magnificent source of inspiration, even though I am not a quilt maker. This book contains gorgeous pictures of some of his innumerable creations, based on simple shapes as the title indicate. Another must for any artist trying to look at the world in a novel way.

Stunning quilting book
This book is a treasure of quilting ideas, patterns, and colors by Kaffe Fassett . The instructions are clear, easy to follow and the results are so beautiful. There are easy quilts for the beginner and more complex ones for the advanced quilter. It is a celebration of color, shapes and quilts to admire for ages. I own other books written by Kaffe, and he is a marvelous colorist besides designer. Thank you Kaffe for the world to share your inspirations.

Product was new and in good condition. I did not understand that was being sold at $10.00 over cover price.

Beautiful Quilt Designs
I made this quilt for my son years ago. Then a couple of years ago he took it to Bonnaroo and it was stolen. He was crushed. He recently went through a really bad time so I wanted to make him another quilt to cheer him up but I couldn't find the pattern and this book is out of print. I was thrilled to be able to find it on Amazon.

Spectacular book
Anyone who is a Kaffe Fassett fan will love this book. Not only does it have great quilt patterns but it has wonderful photos of the kinds of things Kaffe finds inspirational. Each section - circles, diamonds etc - also has an introduction written by Kaffe so it gives the reader some really good insight into the creative spirit of this very talented man. The kind of book you will read, then come back to regularly for some fresh ideas.
