Lonely Planet Europe 3 (Travel Guide)

Given such a broad area of review, I think the book does a good job of pointing out top suggestions. That being said, I wish I had purchased their more detailed books on just the countries I was interested in. This book just needs to cover too much. There aren't a lot of photos either. But if you're looking for a guide book for the whole continent, you can't go wrong with this one.

I planned on going to Europe after the pandemic subsided, but Putin attacked Ukraine, and the US economy tanked under Biden. This is a great resource, that I plan on using when global circumstances stabilize.

Other travel guides (Fodor’s, etc) are more informative regarding what to see in each location.

The book is thicker than you might think but this is not a negative as there is plenty of pages for each country in Europe. Always good getting a good quality secondhand one instead of new as you save a bit of money and sometimes get some ideas from previous owners who have maybe written in the book or have left things, i.e. postcards from places they’ve been in the book

Great book initially and a good overview and quick summary for some trip planning. However I was shocked and disappointed by its key notes on some locations which almost seemed a little xenophobic or the least ignorant! For example for London one of the greatest cities in the world and often ranked no.1 for places to visit, their tag line is great for pubs and clubs!!! No mention of the palaces, markets, attractions, parks, free museums, the london eye and many many other things london is uniquely positioned to offer! Also similar for at least two other cities I noticed so I assume the writer used a personal view rather than a professional impartial account... so won’t be buying lonely planet products again.

These books are of course excellent - but why isn't Cyprus in this? It's in the EU!

preview pages had ALOT more pictures than the rest of the book! fine if thats what your looking for but there is hardly any pictures of the places once you actually get to the information about each countries.
