Once fitted to my garden gate this kept it open perfectly and can be operated by foot. No bending down.brilliant bit of kit.

As I was putting this on the garden gate I was pleased with the sturdiness. However, it come without screws. Should have had them, but missing from order.

Wanted something to secure the back gate when open without fixing to a wall. This has proved to be the right purchase. It fits securely to the gate and can be operated by your foot. It's not bulky so not prone to get in the way. It has been a very good choice and would recommend this product.

The kick-down lock itself seems ok. Cast aluminium allow. Chrome plated (not stainless steel) shaft. Only just fitted, so not sure yet of durability. They seem robust, but probably only for light/occasional use - certainly not of industrial quality - but at this price point, this can be expected. I bought two for two external doors. One of them fitted fine. But the other door was quite high off the floor, so the 5cm (2") reach was insufficient. I managed to thread the end of the shaft, add an extension and replace the rubber foot. It works fine. The only down side is the supplied wood screws. The steel is very soft and barely fit for purpose. One head sheared off. The other 2 suffered stripped heads. I had to extract the sheared stubs and then used different screws. For others without the right tools, this would have been a bigger problem. Hence the 3 stars.

It is easy to fit and works well on carpets, on wood floor the stud is of hard plastic and it slips easily, I fitted a foam pad cut to size and it improves the stopper. One of the screws also lost the screwdriver thread screwing into a pilot hole, metal too soft and I had to use my own. Product can be improved at the factory.

This is quite small compared to the picture in the listing. The part you press down with your foot is tiny and it wouldn’t hold my gate open it just kept slipping on the tiles, I returned the item for a refund.

Fitted it to the gate but after a couple of months it stopped working. Press your foot down and it would just come back up. Unscrewed it and binned it lol.
