A labor of love and a feast for the eyes
Eve Kahn's lavishly illustrated biography of the forgotten Impressionist Mary Rogers Williams is a treat and an education. Come for the ravishing pastel landscapes and portraits, stay for the wry sophistication of Eve Kahn's beautiful storytelling--a portrait in prose as beautiful as Williams's art. Brava!

Beautifully written life of a remarkable woman
Eve Kahn leads the reader into a treasure trove of letters and art work of this almost forgotten artist who lived a life that would have likely resulted in a well deserved place in history had she been a man. Mary Rogers Williams' own words from letters home are woven together with Kahn's unique eye for irony, story telling and rich detail to give us a glimpse into the life and art of this remarkable woman.
