Great reading. Gives good insight on what it was ...
Great reading. Gives good insight on what it was like in the early days of the war for the British forces in Southeast Asia. One thing I noticed was that the author relates, in most, if not all, of his recollections of the aerial encounters with the Japanese, that the Japanese aircraft were "Navy 0's", referring to the Japanese Reisen, or Zero, fighters. However, in most parts of the theatre the author operated in, I think the most likely opponents were Imperial Japanese Army fighters, such as the Ki-43 Hayabusa, which could easily be mistaken as Japanese Navy A6m2 Zeros. Other than that, I really enjoyed the book.

A fabulous first hand account of a neglected campaign
I have given the book four stars as it is a great story and the author does not try to dress this book up as a great work of literature. The book is written mainly from memory as many of the records were destroyed during the war. It is the story of a group of pilots who started off the war together and saw many challenges together. The story starts from the author's enlistment through his journey to the war in Asia ending with the Battle for Java. It is a war of constant retreating, moving from airfield to airfield with the Japanese often not being far away, It is a campaign that is not covered well so this book help fills that gap. The author does not try to write a complete history of the campaign rather he describes the part that he observed. It is an interesting story. His experience flying in endless clouds when he has no idea where he is. His narrow escape from an airfield partially surrounded by the Japanese in a Hurricane that by rights should not have started. I recommend this book as a fabulous first hand account that brings to life a neglected campaign.

Interesting Account
Hurricane Over the Jungle is an interesting account of a little-known part of the early war in Asia. The author fought a gallant but loosing campaign against the Japanese and tells his story factually. Recommended!

surprisingly fresh account of a well known story
When you think you have resd everything about the fall of Singapore and the Dutch East Indies something like this pops up. Well written, emotional and factual account of the three months of combat in that theater.

Hurricanes in combat over Burma
Pretty good narrative about Hurricane operations over Burma in 1942-1943. Fascinating, sometimes tragic, story.

Not a bad read. Like all self-published books it seems, it could have used the services of a professional editor.

A gripping and thoughtful story.
Anyone with an interest in the fall of Singapore and its aftermath should find this account fascinating. The author's views on the atmosphere there coincide with many that I have come across in other accounts, and the story of P2 shows yet another missed opportunity for the British.
