An Introduction to Sociolinguistics (Blackwell Textbooks in Linguistics)

needed for a college course

Very helpful for my studies. I am using it for one of my classes in a Linguistics Masters Program.

This book is awful. Some of the vocabulary words are not in the index or the glossary! Hopefully you do not have to take a class that uses this book.

I would not buy the e-book through Kindle because there are no page numbers. I need the book for my masters class, and I am unable to cite correctly without page numbers.

Written not for the beginner, this book opens the closed minds about how we communicate and think as a society of linguistic, communicative and/or community of people. A must read before you make your next arguement about the classes, races, genders or other preferences people align themselves with. Start in chapter 12! It will encourage to finish every page.

I am using this bbok for my language and society class at university and it has been wonderfully helpful so far. Easy to understand and complex enough to make you dig deeper in the subjects.
