A VERY bright light in a small package
I was curious to see just how bright this little light is when I received it. When I first turned it on nothing happened so I assumed the battery was dead, so I tried to charge it and the little light was blinking purple which it says there is a charging problem??. Took it apart to see if there was a strip of some kind in front of the battery but nothing. When I put it back together it worked just fine. Anyway the wife and I were in the TV room for the evening and the room is fairly dark except for two small lamps and the light from the television. We have a vaulted ceiling witch is white and I put it on the brightest setting, turned it on and right away she says turn the damn thing off. It looked like a flash bulb went off. Love this light.I use flashlights all the time and probably have 15 or more. I am an HVAC tech. and electrician so I am always looking for a small and bright flashlight that I can carry on my tool pouch. I would like to see the on/off button on the end instead of the side but I can live with it as long as it doesn't get turned on accidentally in the pouch. One other thing that would be nice is the ability to adjust the focus, but it's so bright I'll probably find that it won't need to be focused down to a smaller spot. It appears to be very well made with obvious quality built in. We'll see how well it holds up in the real world. It will not be just setting in a drawer waiting to be used. Don't know how the battery life is, haven't used it much yet but so far I am impressed. I'll update this post some time later when I get some hours under it's belt.Update 3/6/20After using a few months now almost daily I found that this light has two flaws in my opinion. Both are design flaws, 1st is the small rubber charge cover, its in the way all the time and impossible to keep closed. 2nd is theon/off switch on the side. I like the way it works in keeping the memory and such but it needs to be on the end of the light not on the side. Keeping it in my tool pouch it keeps turning itself on running the battery dead. I'm learning to live with them but if they were corrected it would be the perfect little flashlight, 5 stars for sure.

Extremely bright and well made
It's been 3 or 4 years since I bought a good flashlight and with advancements in LED technology, I tried this Wowtac A5. I didn't want to spend a ton on a light but still wanted features like long run time, waterproofing, shockproof and also wanted it to be on the smaller side. I really like the feature of charging this with a micro usb directly into the side of the light. This A5 checks all the boxes. It's extremely bright, it's relatively small, feels good in the hand and I have to say the run time is very impressive. Most bright lights will step way down from their turbo mode to something way way less after 30 seconds or a minute. This still steps down to save the emitter and circuitry from frying from the heat, but the stepped down brightness is still extremely bright. The A5's regular "high" mode is pretty much all you'd need to do any task out to 50 yards or so.Build quality feels very good, the o-rings were just a tad dryer than I'd like but a quick smear of grease will solve that. Overall, this seems like a very durable and well made light with a nice floody beam. Perfect light for most household or camping/outdoor tasks.***EDIT: I finally got to use it for mountain biking. Awesome wall of light for the trails. Medium mode is fine for most climbing, high mode is more than enough for heading downhill. My only nitpick with the light is I wish the power switch was a bit bigger. Perhaps in the A5 version 2.

They are NOT kidding when they say this thing is bright!!
I have a nice bike light that I bought here a while ago that I've been really happy with. Then I got this thing. Now I'm ashamed to look at my old bike light. This thing is like a hand-held car headlight. It's got a nice, wide throw pattern with a much wider hotspot than most, and MAN it is bright!! I got the 'warm' variant and hear the 'cool' variant is even brighter! I may have to go back for that one too and slap that puppy on my electric scooter! Also, I've always felt things like a strobe on a flashlight were kinda gimmicky, having first seen one in the movie Kick A$$, but playing with this thing today, even in the middle of the afternoon, I (made a mistake and) turned it on myself, right in my face and I couldn't see *anything!*. This is flat-out a safety device too! You can't even see peripherally as your eyes are begging to shut. This really could fend off an attacker. The 'twilight' mode or whatever it's called is also interesting. It's just on, but at a *very* low level. So low you can stare directly into the lens and see the glowing element in the middle. It's probably enough to read by at night if you have good eyesight, and at that low, it lasts days (literally. I think it said even weeks!)) so it's nice to think you have that safety option if you need it.All in all, I still can't believe how bright this thing is.WARNING THOUGH... most people miss this but it comes packaged WITH THE CASE SLIGHTLY UNSCREWED TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. You will see people talking about how it won't charge until they took it apart and put it back together. What they're really doing is the 'putting it back together' because then they tighten it up and it works. There *is* a note in the box about this, but it's on a tiny strip of paper that almost looks like garbage, which is why so many people miss it. So if you get it... just tighen it down. It even comes pre-charged so you can start using it right away!
