A MUST READ Book
I was, as is described in the Introduction, one who found it “…all too easy to switch to Auto and leave everything to the camera.” I purchased this book because I accidentally saw a show on public television, “Wild Photo Adventures”, and wanted to learn more about photography. While the book is written for DSLR’s, most of it is also applicable to the “point and shoot” variety (I have a Canon Powershot SX530 HS).Nothing is left to chance, starting with the proper way to hold a camera (I was doing it wrong). Using short, well explained, “lessons”, the book explains and demystifies all those little icons and strange settings that the camera offers. You soon realize that the camera is a little box of technological wizardry…and now you know how to use it!Not only do you easily learn how to get the most from your camera, you also learn how to get the most from your photo editing software. Will the book have you always using a manual mode? No, but now you can choose from ‘Auto’ to ‘Shutter Priority’ to ‘Aperture Priority’…and you’ll know what you’re doing: choosing the best mode for the condition. I can’t say enough good about this book.I just realized that I have only had this book for 5 days! Already I’m setting shutter speeds, apertures, exposures and light conditions. WOW! If you’re looking for an easy, quick way to understand your digital camera, you won’t be disappointed in this book.

Informative
This book is very informative for the beginning amateur photographer or for those who want to dig into the inside and outs before buying your camera. The extra little bonuses were much appreciated 👍

For Beginners -- and Infrequent Photographers (Like Me)
As amateur photographers go, I fall well short of a dedicated hobbyist. And at 76 years of age, I need a refresher course on photography (as well as my four digital cameras) whenever the occasion arises for me to take photos. This book has become indispensable for one of my limited ability and skills set. I would also highly recommend it to anyone new to photography who desires a very well organized, comprehensive, but simplified textbook (with pictures) that covers most of the basics. The title says it all. Well done!

The Perfect Guide for Beginners like me.....
This is the best book to teach you the basics of using your dslr camera. I really lucked out getting this one. Thanks to the reviews I was able to choose a guide that actually taught me how to use my Canon T5i in a way that I can understand. The pictures in the book shows great reference settings and before and after pics of different environments. The most important thing to learn is ISO, Aperture, and Shutter speed which was very clear and not polluted with over the top technical terms. Being ADD (for real) it kept my attention and got directly to the point as I needed it to. As a novice in the game my skills have improved drastically because of this guide. This stays in my camera bag for the pointers I need on the spot.I highly recommend this guide. I cant say enough good things about it

Excellent book. Any person can know how to take ...
Excellent book. Any person can know how to take good photos with this book. I like the chapters where the author explain very clear how to understand the difficult way and how use the modern cameras made for the modern tech today. Is one of the photo book we can use all the time to consult something about photography. It has many photos and drawings that tell you the difficult way to take good photos for all of us we believe that just to buy an expensive camera and many lens is all we need and when we finish to read and understand the book we know we have a bigmistake to think this way.Orestes Puebla

Great!!
Shipped quickly, got it before the date it said I would. I just got it today, so I haven't actually sat down to read it, but just flipping through the pages I can already tell I'm going to like it. I have other photography books, but this is a step by step guide from exposure to even how to hold your camera with illustrations of different ways for comfort and to get those great shots. The book wasn't listed as new, but you would think that it is. There's not a mark on it, no rips, bends, nothing. Very impressed!

It's a good reference book to have but I am still on ...
This book is very basic, if you are looking for greater detail (as I am) it might not be for you. It's a good reference book to have but I am still on the hunt for a better beginners book. I would check this out from the library or look at it in a book store rather than buy it in my opinion. I gave it four stars because it is easy to read and inexpensive, it's just not what I was looking for.
