my son doesn't have a smart tv so I was trying to avoid getting one this but this doesn't connect what so ever, I knew the reviews weren't so good but I figured I would try anyways, thankful for the easy return and refund policy. DO NOT SUGGEST

It legitimately does not work for android and will not display to anything.

One other thing that was noted the vendor recommends a 5VDC 2amp power supply instead of the 1amp they recommend. The reason why the 3 rating was the time it took to find the correct information and, incorrect information in the Amazon listing.I wish Amazon would look at the information supplied by 3rd Vendors. This is why I try and but a item that is sold by Amazon instead of a 3rd party vendor.To look up the correct manual do a search on the FCC id.

Three stars for the fact that it works. 1 star for being easy to use (not easy!)I can't comment on using this for a phone connection - even though I know that's one of if not the big selling point for this. However, I wanted this for casting from my laptop(s) to a screen. Having the ability to cast from your laptop to a big screen is very, very handy if you are in a business setting, or simply in a small conference with family discussing something (such as travel planning or showing photos). I've done this many times at work, and in that commercial environment it's been great to have the ability. This dongle does not give you that in a reliable way at all.Also, I don't want to connect this device to my home network - sorry but I don't trust a random named product like this to be connected all the time - and it shows in the description and instructions you can connect directly.Well, not really. One of my two laptops finally connected after several tries, but the picture quality was bad. It was very pixelated and just poor. It also lagged behind my laptop's actions by a couple seconds which is annoying if your presenting something. The other laptop has never connected even after trying multiple times on TVs in two different locations. Attempting to connect to the listed IP Address on screen yields a security warning from both Chrome and Edge, and I never was able to connect that way (using the direct IP address).Also, instructions are not very clear. On-screen information is just too much and confusing. Seems this is mostly designed for Android and iOS devices, so be warned. Also, the main dongle (with 5G printed on it) is high quality - but the USB and wifi adapter is cheap and a different plastic.
