The best of this type of magnifier
I've had an identical magnifier for several years, so this is an additional one for my carry-around projects. It works very well with a stand, but it is a bit too heavy to hold attached to a hoop or frame. The clamp is sturdy and firm, without being difficult to operate. The arm is strong, and doesn't lose flexibility, but is easy to adjust. The only thing it might lack is a light, but the magnification is strong enough to allow use in light levels sufficient for normal reading, and the lighted magnifiers all have some deficiency (weight, size of lens, awkward or inadequate clamp, inadequate light, high price) that make them not as good a product as this one (IMHO)

No more headaches
I was using one of those magnifiers you wear on your head and I kept getting headaches from looking back and forth between my work & the rest of the world! This little magnifier attaches to my quilting or other needlework and I can see tiny details as I work. I love the gooseneck as it enables me to zero in or a part of my work without having to re-clip it or I can just move the magnifier a bit to thread a new needle. It also clips nicely to my sewing machine base when I want to see very tiny details when I am doing free motion quilting. BE SURE TO PUT A PIECE OF SCRAP FABRIC BETWEEN YOUR PROJECT AND THE CLIP, AS THE CLIP SOMETIMES LEAVES BLACK MARKS. If I was not for that I would have given it more stars.

I am very please with this magnifier!
I am very please with this magnifier! I use with a Morgan lap hoop and it works beautifully. I did use glue dots to adhere 2 pieces of white grippy drawer liner to ensure it left no marks. But I have found that it works best clipped on the closure part of the embroidery hoop and it also keeps me from catching my threads on the closure part since it is covered up! I embroider sitting on my couch and have a lamp on a table behind me focused over my shoulder and the extra light makes super easy to use very fine thread on high count linen. It's also great for travel.
