Planning is key
The assembly of the base pairs (C-G, T-A) was straightforward as was attaching them to the platforms. It was also possible to invert the sequencing of base pairs to make a customised sequencing (TA CG GC TA CG AT GC CG TA AT). There were minor errors in the instructions for assembling the ribose phosphate chains (hydrogens missing from the diagrams). I found it import to arrange the stereo-configurations of the ribose phosphate chains in advance before attaching them to the base pairs. The instructions suggest building 2 layers of base pairs and then attaching the ribose phosphate chains. I found it easier to assemble all 10 layers of the base pairs and then attach the ribose phosphate (left-right, left-right etc). Having a graduate knowledge of chemistry was helpful.
