Retained all functions on a 2014 honda
Allowed me to retain all original functions of the vehicle as well as the new stereo with Apple Carplay. Note additional SWC kit/interface required for all steering wheel functions at additional cost. As a novice, had to give myself an education via youtube to learn install, but everything went in seamlessly.

Make sure firmware is updated.
Installed in a 2012 CRV. Had one issue. first install didn't work. Had to update the firmware to version 1.8 here: [...] After updating, worked as advertised. I didn't have to hold the source button to change the time though, just used the normal setup through the menu.

Defective interface.
Spent over at least 3 weekends on a Saturday, over the phone with Axxess, and they conclude defective interface after multiples call back to them.

Good, but not perfect.
Honestly, I'm not too sure where I would rate this, somewhere between 3 to 4 stars. In terms of "does it work", the answer is yes. Does it work well? Not particularly. Everything is soldered and thermal taped up, so it looks good (if a bit tangled), but I'm still confused as to what the giant box does. I contacted Axxess/Metra support, and they told me that it was supposed to interpret the car's data feed to give the appropriate data to the VSS/illumination/parking/etc wires, but my headunit doesn't appear to be getting the data. I looked over the vehicle cabling specs and didn't see any vehicle information input wires, so either they're mistaken or it applies to other cars. In any case, just make sure you do your research. If your car doesn't have and information input wire, you might be better off just getting a simple pass through harness.I really do wish they made the black box smaller, a lot of it seems like protective casing/empty air. A smaller box would have made putting the headunit back in the car (which is always limited in space anyways) a heck of a lot easier.

Two Stars
You can't adjust time

Doesn't work
It does not retain control of the clock setting built into a 2012 Honda CR-V as advertised. As the installer said "this is a $99 box of snake oil." I'm not quite sure what that means, but it's basically a useless, yet expensive box and wires.

Better left to an experienced professional.
I'm sure once I get it to work it will do its job but I could t get it setup initially. The instructions were a bit confusing.

spent 131 bucks on nothing, time change came around ...
spent 131 bucks on nothing, time change came around and guess what ........cant change the clock! called metra suport and all they could tell me was that they never heard of that, will not pay that again. just keep your factory radio and plug it in to change the clock 2 times a year, much easier
