I was a little intrigued when I saw this on the Vine Programme and could not resist ordering it and I am glad I did. Since becoming a member of Vine I have had a plan to set up a solar wind energy system in/on my workshop. Nothing special, enough to charge something like a car battery for lights and in an emergency a way to keep mobile phones alive and torches (one never knows when the end of the world might suddenly cause chaos). Anyway this is a small dynamo with a gearbox to drive it and a drive shaft to fix to (OK its not long) the Gearbox has three fixing holes so the unit could be fixed into a water proof box and a small wind turbine blade connected to the driveshaft (I'm still making cunning plans). I have a regulator and a solar panel as well now so progress is slow but steady.As I said in the headline this will appeal to a certain type of person who likes to tinker and work on little projects, I think this has the potential to be really useful, but it might be down to the skills of the buyer to make it into something impressive.
