After a year of unreliability, it is now a decent machine.
The first year of owning this was kind of a nightmare. I travel out of the country a lot so replacing or tek support for a lemon is an ordeal that isn't worth the cost/benefit. Better to just buy a new one. This baby is fast and has nice graphics. Unfortunately, there is a lot of white light bleeding into the screen from all around the edges, but it is tolerable. The worst thing about this was for the first year+ it would just decide to stop working. I would run the diagnostics, and the utilities to try and fix it, and I always kept up to date with Dell and Windows updates, but nonetheless, it would often just quit working. Seemed like it needed a rest because after a number of days it would finally start up again. Another irritating feature is that it would often freeze up while watching video or doing other high resource tasks, a problem I have had on other solid-state/spinning hard-drive hybrids. I think everything was/is software related because for the last several months it has been much more reliable. Also it is possible that it was overheating because it was definitely hot, and about the same time I started using a cooling fan underneath. Still, occasionally when Windows or Dell puts out a new update, there are some glitches like losing the response of the Function keys, especially the screen brightness. But they eventually get fixed, and the system reliability has improved tremendously. I can't remember the last time it crashed. On another note, Amazon automatically signed me up for, and charged me for, McAfee Antivirus renewal, which never worked. After much searching on Amazon, I was finally able to cancel the next year that they were going to try and renew, meantime, I had to delete the antivirus because I kept getting messages that it was expired. There was no tek support available from Amazon. So I am currently paying for a program that isn't even on my laptop. Watch Amazon's little tricks like this whenever you buy electronics. I have half a mind to report them to the Attorney General of my state.

Good product and fast
The product is a good product. Not so heavy. All the standard features. Excellent customer support. I had a problem in that the laptop was suppose to have an RJ-45 jack for directly connecting to the internet. The device arrived without one. The supplier did not have a laptop in stock with the RJ-45 jack and all the other features that come with the laptop. The supplier agreed to provide a USB 3.0 USB Ethernet interface and a USB expansion ports since the Ethernet interface would take up one of the ports. It device arrived within a few days. Testing revealed it worked great - maintained my DSL speed without difficulty and all USB expansion ports (3) worked fully loaded. Minor difficulty in that the USB Ethernet device connected to the USB port did not show up in the File Explorer or under 'hidden icons'. Consequently there was no way to safe the device without turning the laptop off, if I wanted to remove the USB device. Otherwise it works great and really good customer service, polite, personal, and professional.

Amazing Laptop with Fast Delivery
I ordered this laptop on Sunday along with a 4TB external hard drive and it said it would arrive Friday, but here it is on Wednesday afternoon. I am thrilled with the fast delivery and the laptop looks as great as it does in the pictures. I compared it to my old Dell Latitude; it's magnificent how big this new one is. It's been a long time since I've had a laptop this large and hopefully I'll keep it in good shape for a long while. I owned a 17.3" HP laptop back when I was a freshman in high school (2009), and, I obviously couldn't handle such a large sized piece of hardware back then - it definitely had some damage done. But now that I'm older and have had experience with many different laptops, I think I'm ready for this larger sized one. I've just set it up, which was fast and efficient - I'm in love with this new laptop already. I am very glad I made the choice to purchase this. I've been looking for a good brand that will last me a while. I wanted something with a lot of space but also a good amount of RAM so I can do some minor gaming (I play the sims 3). I know this isn't a gaming laptop per say, but, for the sims 3, I think this will do. It's definitely an upgrade from my previous Dell Latitude. So far, I'm very pleased with my purchase and would for sure recommend this laptop to anyone looking for something new.

Oh, my!
This is the best, most powerful computer I have ever owned. I bought my first PC in 1980, an IBM with a 10 meg hard drive that cost more than the car I was driving. I've owned a bunch.I shopped for a long time to find the machine I wanted. This one hit every box on my shopping list; every feature I wanted and a few after that.Snob that I am, I always turned away from Dell believing them to be the Matel of computers. Brother (and Sister), was I wrong. This machine is the cat's pajamas, putting everything else I've owned to shame. As if my own impression wasn't enough I've taken tons of compliments from tech support people when they have had a reason the take remote access to effect repairs on software. They have positively gushed over the hardware they saw. This is your next computer.k

A little pricey for a laptop
I have owned many laptops and it seems that the 17" laptops are becoming more and more rare. When you can find them, they are quite a bit more expensive. Most people do not want them as they are harder to fit in backpacks. For all of those who are older or hard of sight, they should be offered and at a price that does not penalize those who not only want them, but need them! Having said that, this appears to be well made and fast enough for most every day tasks. I have a Lenovo L340 gaming laptop that was purchased 1-1/2 years ago for around $700.00 with an I7 chip, and it is way faster than this machine, and cost less! It is no longer offered and I did not want to settle for an I5, but 17" with an I7 are now $1,000.00 and up!
