Improves your writing by adding finess
Bill Boyle's Visual Mindscape puts you into a new way of thinking. This is a great book for advanced writers to add visual dynamics and smooth over rough edges in their writing. Each chapter offers an opportunity to look at your work and enhance the scenes on the page. This book covers concepts not normally found in other writing books. I also appreciate that the tone of the book is one of sharing and a genuine desire to improve your craft. A must have along side Save the Cat and Writing for Emotional Impact.

Every Writer's Desk Should Have A Writing Instrument And This Book
"The Visual Mindscape" is a resource I'll be returning to again and again for years to come, not only for its poignant tips but, perhaps more importantly, its innate advocacy for the struggling writer. And really, what writer isn't struggling? Through this book, master teacher and gifted screenwriter, Bill Boyle, pushes writers to craft scripts that aren't just movie blueprints, but emotional thrill rides that can jolt the most lethargic of readers. Do yourself a solid and read this book, then read it again.

Excellent book for screenwriters wishing to deepen the visual experience of the reader and audience!
Coming from a playwright background, this book enabled me to transition from dialogue to visuals. The chapter on "absolute present tense" not only improved my screenplay, but my writing in general! The book uses visual examples and scripts to support the lessons throughout the book. This made it easy to follow and use in my own writing.Excellent book for screenwriters who wish to deepen the visual experience of the reader or audience!

My feeling about "The visual mindscape of the screenplay"
I'm really surprised about this book because I've not many expectations on it, however in some pages that I have read I've seen very interesting cuestions and point of view about the scritp, that I 've never read before. Although, thera are another parts that repeat many basic information that really don't be worth the effort. But basically, the good parts are more tan the bad parts.Thank you.

The Visual MIndscape of the Screenplay
These techniques help you think visually and translate that vision to the page. Mr. Boyle helps you hone your craft into a VISCERAL EXPERIENCE. I've come across many classes and books on the subject, and have never been exposed to this visual mindscape -- until now. For a screenwriter, Bill's wisdom is priceless.

Sloppy
Over the course of this book, I came to respect Bill Boyle for his knowledge and skill in the craft and business of screenwriting. As for the book itself, it is just plain sloppy. There are typos everywhere. The author fails to significantly develop or elaborate on the vast majority of his main points. Certain items are mis-categorized. Terms are poorly-defined or incorrectly used, the design is amateur, and, oh yeah, half the book isn't even about its stated purpose. The book does contain some helpful ideas and examples but for me "Visual Mindscape"'s utility is drowned out by poor writing and presentation.
