Follow directions on the package.
These are incredibly hard to germinate. Be sure to follow the directions. It's not an issue with the seller, the seeds themselves are difficult to germinate. I planted 10 a couple months ago ( after gently sanding) 3 came up, 2 died, another sprouted.Whit sage also seems to be a very slow grower. I'm going to try some more seeds after it cools off a bit later in the year.

Don't pick white sage in the wild grow it yourself
White sage is a sacred plant to Native Indigenous Peoples and is used in ceremonies and for purifying rituals (smudging). But white sage is nearly extinct in the wild because of urban sprawl and destruction of habitat. Don't pick the wild plants grow it yourself in your garden.

Poor seed quality/ germination/ growth
Have purchased these seeds for years. While not an easy grow I have enjoyed many white sage plants. However this year the seeds did not do as they have years past; and same growing methods/conditions. They germinated, grew about 2-5mm then rotted off and died. Every single one. I used all four packs I had purchased. Very disappointed.Either source seeds are different / seeds were contaminated.

Wishlist plant, acquired.
For seeds with known low germination rates. I had great success with these. I have fully established plants now after a year and cannot wait to watch it continue to grow!

Germination rate is understandably low
Some will complain about the germination rate but this is sacred sage people. Although I was successful in getting some to germinate, as typical with White Sage out of the entire pack we got about 6 plants per. Really research what you are doing when attempting to germinate White Sage. Plants are compact, healthy and look to be going strong.

Notiously difficult to grow from seed, but these will germinate
This plant is notoriously difficult to germinate, but I was able to grow 3 small plants from these seeds. After re-planting, 2 sustained for several months, and only 1 survived the terrible August sun out in the Acton desert (with much care from me). The winter seemed to strengthen him and he is going on a year now and getting bigger, little by little. Let's hope he makes it through another hot, dry summer!

Old or very hard to grow
My mother and I tried to grow sage from the packet, Nothing happened. So 1 star rating. So I dumped the rest out (on soil) thinking they were a waste of money, month and a half went bye (we had a lot of rain) I got seven sage plants .

LOTS of PLANTS from these seeds
Almost all of the seeds sprouted and most of those have survived up to this point and they are about 4-6 inches tall. I starting indoors in a cactus potting mix and used a full spectrum growing light set for 10 hours a day. Started the end of December and they are ready to be transplanted to bigger containers and wait for outside temps to warm up. It is the beginning of March with 4-6" plants. When germinating, and up till they were about 3 inches, I very carefully used a spray bottle to keep the soil/seeds moist. In the beginning I sprayed the soil, lightly, 2x day. I started with around 40 seeds (wanted to keep a few for later) and ended up with about 34 plants that are now ready to be transplanted into the ground (frost season is gone here) or pots. It's been about 65 days and I have so many plants. I have purchased other brands with a very low ratio of plants (maybe 5%) but THESE ARE GREAT (about an 85% )! They smell lovely and are thriving.
