My head is 7 5/8-7 7/8, will the XL fit?

My head measured 23 1/2 inches and the XL fits me snug,real snug, ...I am afraid it would be extremely tight fit for you.....Just my two cents worth.

I generally wear about a 7 1/4 hats..should i go with the small/medium, or would the large/xl be ok or too big? thanks.

my head diameter is 23 5/8 inches. I believe that equates to a size 7 1/2-7 5/8. this calculates to a large/extra large hat size. It fits just a little loose, but feels fine. At 7 1/4, I would think the small/medium would be ok!Good Luck. It is a very comfortable hat, so I do recommend it for comfort and warmth.

My son is 6 years old with a measurement of 20.5 inches, can he still fit the small/ medium without it being too big?

My head is 21.5 inches and my small/medium hat fits well with a slight bit of room so it well be too big for your son. When I was in England and Scotland recently I noticed that generally this tweed hat was worn by older men like myself while baseball caps were favored by teenage boys and college students.

I bougught the paisley gray tgoday so have not received. Is it lined and does it have the elastic in back? Also what material is it?

Yes, it does have the rear snap. Not lined.
