We live in florida and the mosquitoes are so bad in the warmer months. I sent this bug spray with my son to school where he usually gets eaten alive by bugs. He has not been coming home with any bites since he started using this spray. You have to rub it in once sprayed on which is a little annoying but honestly not a problem at all. I feel like it applies it better anyway. Also, to note there is not a strong smell which I love.

We moved to the country last year, to a place with three creeks. Insect repellant has become a daily thing, as the mosquitos are creepy and their bites itch like mad for days. I had good luck with OFF until one hot days in July when a new biting insect showed up- biting flies. OMG- those a-holes are awful. They actually take a bite of skin away. It hurts! The itch afterwards is almost unbearable, lasts for weeks, and the bites get huge before they start to heal. The healing process takes weeks. The flies here in NW Oregon don’t mind OFF. They bite right through it. I was freaked out by the whole thing, and avoided going outside because the flies were out there. After some internet research, I started looking for an insect repellent made with picaridin or piperidine, which led me to STAY AWAY MOSQUITOS. I ordered a bottle and couldn’t believe how great it worked! It doesn’t have a smell, isn’t greasy, and doesn’t leave big white marks on my clothes like the Familycare OFF. The best part- it really works. It works all day. I don’t have to reapply unless I get wet. Flies don’t bite when I wear this. It’s heaven! After trying it out, I signed up for subscribe and save on a two pack of this every month. I never want to run out because it’s the only thing that really works. It’s slightly inconvenient that I need to rub it in to my skin because the sprayers on the bottles don’t make a very fine mist, but it’s worth it to have a product that is safe and really works!!!

Nice concept to have an insect repellant that is easy to carry with you in a bag, purse. Nice smell as well. However, the spray function is not great… I only got about 3 sprays before the sprayer stopped working altogether.

I am a mosquito magnet and also have sensitive skin that has reacted badly to a lot of other (especially deet based) products. I finally tried this spray and am as happy as can be. Now, I can work in the garden, sit out on the patio, dine outdoors all without needing to wear long pants/long sleeves or suffer from those nasty mosquitos bites. It works great, but as a warning, it's incredibly slippery if any of this product over-sprays onto tile or concrete floors. I typically keep a bottle of spray right inside the back door of our house so I remember to spray myself right before going outside. I have a standard size door mat right inside the door, and I usually stand on this mat when I spray my arms and legs. I did so as usual the first time I used this and I guess some overspray got outside the footprint of the mat onto the tile floor. All I did was take one step off the mat and my legs went right out from under me - - - bam, flat on my butt. It was so slippery I even had a hard time trying to get back up. I tested it out in the garage and the concrete garage floor becomes as slick as the tile inside did. It's odd because this product isn't oily or greasy on your skin at all, but for some reason, once it gets onto tile or smooth concrete, that surface turns as slick as ice. It doesn't stain or discolor (the mat or clothing), so my solution to this was just to buy a larger size door mat for right inside the back door. The product works great though, so just getting a larger mat was a simple and worthwhile adjustment to make.

This is a thin white liquid without any strong or noxious scent/smell. I use this daily during insect season, May through October here in the North East. I spray onto my hands and then apply to all exposed areas in the morning and I find that it lasts well through the mid-afternoon. I do usually re-apply in the early evening before walking the dogs or visiting the barn to see my horse if the bugs are bad. I am outdoors for a good chunk of the day - walking our dogs twice a day, in the backyard with our dogs, gardening and watering our plants and vegetables, and at the barn for an hour or so with my horse. Most of my life I have been a mosquito and biting insect magnet - to the point that I dreaded going outdoors because I would end up covered with terrible itchy bites that would stay with me for weeks at a time. I have tried dozens and dozens of insect repellents (mostly non-Deet) and Stay Away Mosquito has dramatically helped me to enjoy being outdoors! For hiking or visiting a particularly insect infested area such as a tropical location I would probably use a Deet product but for everyday protection I have been relying on Stay Away for the past 3 years. So grateful for this safe and effective product.

Great product but only half full bottles

I had high hopes for this insect repellent. I had used another kind before, with good results, but I hate the scent of it, and I was glad to find one that has the same active ingredient but no scent. I need to use these things daily, every time I am outdoors, because I am very sensitive to the bites of all manner of critters, from no-see-ems to mosquitos. I usually spray my legs and arms and pat on some of the repellent on my neck and face, to cover exposed areas, and I usually do it at home before I leave. However, this one sprayed in a splotchy foam'ish way that needed smearing on with my hands after I sprayed in order to get good coverage. Hopefully this is a bad nozzle and not an ongoing issue with the product. The splotchy spray also left drops on the tile that were very slippery. For now, I'm going to use this and hope it was just a defective nozzle, but I would have to spray it only outdoors to prevent anyone slipping, and it does need to be smeared by hand on top of the spraying, which is a bit annoying. I'll amend the review if the other bottle sprays better.

I still gave this item 5 stars because the actual product is great but the spray bottle that it comes in is not the best. It sprays out in a line (pictured) and requires it to be rubbed in. It doesn’t always spray out like this, but it does most of the time. I don’t see it as that major of an issue because it’s easy to just rub it in. The product itself works great and it has no deet in the formula which I feel is worth it. We live in a pretty wooded backyard with a ton of mosquitoes, and this bug spray repels them just as well as bug spray that has deet but with no strong chemical smell and nongreasy! We do reapply due to sweat but it’s worth it for better ingredients.
