Just perfect!
For anyone with a collection of old school audio cassette tapes, this is a total find! It is slim, lightweight, runs on four C batteries or power cord, and it is easy to operate. We especially appreciated finding this here on Amazon because our mom, who is elderly, needed to replace a broken old cassette player but she is not adept at operating electronics. This was absolutely a perfect find for her! It has an average sound quality and is simple to operate with standard buttons PLAY, STOP, FF, REWIND, RECORD. Slide on the side of the unit makes it easy to adjust the volume.

Pretty Good Tape Recorder
My friend and I are both visually impaired and we live far from each other. We keep in touch by making speaking onto cassette tapes and then passing them back and forth to each other. My friend needed a new cassette recorder, so I purchased this and had it sent to her. She reports that it is working out fairly well. She says the external mic jack does not fit the mic she had around the house, but that the internal mic works ok. She says the playback sound is a little weak, so she needs to turn the volume way up. All that being said, it appears that this cassette recorder will work for us to stay in touch.

Failed to function new from box.
Did not work at all new from box. Completely failed to function. Very disappointed with this product.

It performed exactly as described in the audio specifications.
I'm using this device to capture spoken word and musical ideas. It performs exactly as I expected. The device is not audiophile quality but it's perfect for the money. The included AC adaptor was an added bonus.

Great tape recorder and player! The playback speed and sound quality are great! Colby makes great products! Get your old cassette tapes out of the basement or attic and have a listen!

Good, reliable tape recorder, gets the job done
It records audio nicely and with higher volume and there isn't the issue of it eating cassette tapes that other tape recorders have caused. That said, the sound quality and playback is the same warbly effect of many modern tape recorders. The audio in contrast of tape recorders I bought years ago was much more accurate, even if not much clearer. Still, decently priced, can't complain. I'm satisfied with my purchase but with caveats as stated.
