Best in price range even better than others with higher prices.
My main reason i was going to purchase these speakers is because i have Polk's CS20 center speaker and the TSi200 are the ones that best fits with it replacing my old B&W M-1. I also have Polk's PSW505 subwoofer. I just checked online its frequency range, power, impedance and connection to make sure it'll fit my basic needs. When i unpacked it, the first thing i have noticed is the very nice looking in addition of a quality feel, is its elegant piano black top plate. the sides are MDF and also made with quality in mind. Then i plugged them into my Onkyo receiver and played some music at first with relatively low volumes. I noticed a slightly better performance and sound, then i played a BD movie (Avatar), it was also slightly better than the performance of my old B&Ws M-1. I then made the MultEx Eq calibration, and i noticed a damn good test sound, crisp and loud. I played an "Arman Van Buren" audio CD which i use mainly for testing sound quality. I pumped up the volume to 60 (THX level is 82). The highs were very crisp, the mids were warm and very clear and the base is relatively strong for a front bookshelf speaker. I didn't increase the volume any further 'cause my ears started to hurt (kidding), but i felt that this is like 50% of the speakers power and it performs much better in high volumes than in low (although still very good at low volumes). I just recommend to have a good subwoofer to have a smashing strong overall base.In short, i never expected such performance from that price range. You'll be more than satisfied by the presentation, performance and quality of the sound from these another great Polk's set of speakers.Just have in mind that it is not video magnetic shielded...but who cares :)

Big sound, little footprint.
This Polk TSi200's are great bookshelf speakers, hard to beat for the price. After too much good reviews on Polk Audio products I finally decided to get a pair of TSi200 for my room.I bought them in black, the first thing I noticed when they where out of the box, is that they are solid built and look great, especially the top of the speakers on glossy black. I appreciate good and simple designs, and this speakers look timeless, they'll blend in wherever you put them, they look better with the covers off, no kids or cats on the house, so no problem on damaging the drivers, the tweeters seem really sensible and fragile, so if you have kids or pets in the house, keep the covers on.So, how do they sound?.After unpacking, I went to my room and connected them to an HK 3390 and put on Eric Clapton's Slowhand SACD on my Onkyo C-S5VL and I was immediately blown away with the clarity and sound stage this little speakers communicate, I could tell precisely where in space Eric was sitting in front of me, really great and totally unexpected experience from this little Polks. The experience was great no matter what other CD's and LP's where played, my collection is basically Beatles, Rolling Stones, Creedence, Radiohead, AIR, some indie bands, some Jazz and the likes. They replaced a pair of old Onkyo floor-standing speakers. The sound coming from the Polks is bigger and fuller, wider sound stage, I know my Onkyo's are 10 year old, but I wasn't expecting much better sound from a package 1/4 the size.I strongly recommend getting a Sub-woofer (I did), the TSi200's don't reproduce low frequencies that good, but that is expected based on the size and configuration of the drivers.

WOW!
Received a pair of the above speakers yesterday. In original package from Polk Audio, via Amazon. Excellently packed.I am amazed! Speakers are heavy, well finished and apparently of excellent quality. No surprise there. Upon hooking them with heavy wire to my Yamaha RX-A1000 AVR, they shine. They are currently on the floor, sitting on the original package styro foams.Speakers sound a bit brightly, but that was expected in the burn in period.Full bodied sound, perfectly defined, multi stage sound which extends beyond the speakers location and fills the room. Pleasant, smooth, uncolored, undistorted sound. Beeautiful, natural bass, no boominess, so far I do not need a subwoofer. This was without any Yamaha sound optimization (which this receiver features).I accidentally switched sources in the middle of playing, with volume quite high... I switched to HD FM, to a station I have stored in the AVR's memory. Other than a spike of sound which I then controlled by lowering the volume, nothing catastrophic happenned, which is a proof of superior quality and speakers handling power as per specs.I am very delighted with these speakers. They offer excellent quality and build for a very reasonable price. Since year 2000 when I bought my 1st set of Polk Audio speakers, (RTi7 ?) I stick only to Polk audio speakers. I was not disappointed yet.Once again Polk Audio met new standards in audio speakers!

... pair of Paradigms that finally had a cone go bad. Very happy with my purchase
Bought these to replace an old pair of Paradigms that finally had a cone go bad. Very happy with my purchase. They look great (excellent match for the cherry trim in my 1920's era home) and sound even better. I've spent the last few days listening in multiple media (TV, CD, Vinyl) and everything from jazz, classical, indie rock and metal. They deliver in all modes. I liked my old speakers but, even in my small room, preferred to listen in all channel stereo with rear speakers and a sub. I find these are more than adequate in good old fashioned stereo mode. No worries with bass or volume.Speaker are a bit larger than what I usually consider "bookshelf" but not out-of-scale in an 11x15 living room. I'm sure the high end audiophiles could find minor flaws here and there but at this price point you're getting high quality speakers with excellent performance. No regrets here.
