Great catcher set, bad buckles
Purchased this for my kids. A little big for them right now but next season they should fit. Helmet is solidly constructed and I also purchased the throat protector for additional protection and to meet league regs.Chest protector is light and breathable. Nothing fancy but gets the job done. Adjustments can be made quickly.Shin guards are nice. They feel solid especially at the knee cap. My only critique would be that the buckles are kinda cheap and hard to adjust. This also doubles as a halloween costume. My partner and I are dressing as a literal catcher in the rye. A catcher and a bottle of rye. Iykyk!

Great quality gear
Perfect fit for my 11 y/o son. Leg guards have improved in this generation with an extra strap to secure the ankle guard. The leg guard is lighter weight plastic than in the intermediate or adult models, it seems, but given that this is geared toward 12 and under (with the expected 65 mph and under pitch speeds), there should not be any issues. The helmet is very well built and padded, with the typical Mizuno quality and visibility (adjustability is a bit limited, but again, for youth sized heads, this should fit just about everyone between 9 and 12). Chest guard is much more breathable and lighter weight than the previous generation youth gear. Keep up the great work, Mizuno!

Awesome well protected and light
Fits my 11 year old perfect. Gear is heavy duty but light. My son loves it. Best gear ever had!

Great looking product
I got this for my 8 year old son for is spring season in coach pitch. It was slightly too big and bulky for him this year. The gear was also on the heavier side. Being in southeast Texas, it was fairly hot for him as well. I had the adjust the facemask as far as it would go and still it was a tad tight for him.Comfort:For my 8 year old in Texas, this gear was a liitle big, he had a difficult time moving around in it and it got very hot. There is a good chance I was doing this wrong, but the head gear seem a little on the smaller side.Light weight:This gear was too heavy for my 8 year old.Durability:He wore it for a full season and the gear is still in gear condition. Of course, the knees and shins are scratched up, but the rest of it is good.

GOOD LOOKING GEAR
This set is not for a small youth. Our catcher is 4'7" to 4'8" and husky. and it fits him well. It is Good looking gear, purchased this set because it matches up with our all star unis. All these youth sets are identical in make up and are "all" way overpriced. Just find the color you need and make sure it is approved for play in your league and pay no attention to the brand.

Very disappointing
Very Disappointed in Mizuno on this helmet. I been buying Mizuno products for years now, and this helmet I got for my son was an epic failure both physically and financially. Two of the cushions on the side of the inside helmet came off the very FIRST game. And the “plastic” button fasteners dont even stay connected during play time! Only giving one star for the knees guards and that aint much either.

Perfect
My son loves the look and feel. Several compliments on his gear this season. So far the product has held up very well.

Runs VERY big
I bought the youth size of this catcher's gear for my 9 year old son. He's a very average sized kid so I figured this would fit him fine but it was incredibly oversized. The leg guards go all the way up to the top of his thighs and they extend out beyond his toes, and the knee part falls above his knee. The chest protector was so big that it sagged down at the top to where it left his upper chest exposed. I had my 16 year old niece who is 5'3" tall try it on and it fit her perfectly (I posted pics of both of them wearing the gear). She's a highschool catcher and she said it fits her exactly how her own gear fits her. Helmet fit my son perfectly so I'm wondering if maybe everything else was just missized.
