Riveting story
It did take a bit to get used to the narrator being a fifteen year old girl, but by around page thirty I was sucked into the story and fully invested. It was nice for a change for the main character to not know exactly what to do or always somehow end up doing the right thing. Not every hero has to be perfectly flawed. If you go into the story understanding that the protagonist is a young, boy crazy, unskilled, mildly snobbish teenage girl, and you are all right with that you'll enjoy it, because it is a terrific book. It's hard to imagine what life would be like if water was a constant enemy and we had to go to great lengths to protect ourselves from it, but this will give you a pretty good idea. I am on my way directly to book two because I cannot wait to see what happens next!

Great story and packaging.
My grand daughter picked out this book from a book store because of packaging. She was reading the book to me over Facetime and this is how we would visit because of over 1,000 mile distance in homes.. I purchased this book for myself so we could take turns reading to keep it interesting. This is an exciting book for a young teen to read. I purchased the other two books for each of us from this Author and we can't wait to start The Storm.

... one day while shopping at Target and I'm so glad I bought it
This book caught my eye one day while shopping at Target and I'm so glad I bought it. It took me about a week or two to read this since I am pretty busy. I loved the concept of the story and the book cover. I love apocalyptic/dystopian novels so this was a must read for me.This book is about a girl named Ruby. She's at a party at her friend's house hanging out with her crush and a hot tub when the killer rain starts. As a story progressive she's trying to figure out if her crush Caspar home she could for the first time survived if her parents have survived her little brother and her step dad. Her friend's mother dropped her off at home everything seemed fine but they think that she might be infected they don't quite know how this works the rain has not touched her but they don't know that so they quarantine her into a room. After a day or so, she's let out once they figure out that she's safe. This is where everything begins to get pretty intense I won't spoiled book but she's encountered some challenges she has to kind of fend for herself so she's out in the world alone trying not to get a single raindrop on her. The rain is poison, it kills, and she's in survival mode. Ruby has a funny and sarcastic personality. She seems to be in the middle of being an introvert and extrovert which clearly shows in the book.Throughout her journey of survival in this new apocalyptic world, she meets a few people she finds someone that she knows from school and forms a friendship with him. They go on this journey together to try to find her dad. When she finds Darius Spratt, he's with a little girl that they named princess because the little girl doesn't talk. They have no idea who she belongs to or what her name is. After a few weeks, they find some survivors and in the midst of it all, they lose each other. Until they encounter some men in fatigue whom they just found out are the Army.During this journey she grows up and becomes stronger emotionally as she keeps getting weaker physically. Overall I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars I love that the author used water - the most essential thing to us - as the enemy. I highly recommend this book I cannot wait for the second one which is called the storm to come out because once it does I will be buying it. So if you read this book or plan on reading this book leave me a comment below!

I was kind of in a reading slump before this book and when I first started this book I didn’t know what to expect and was still in a slump but half way through I couldn’t put this book down.

It was an easy read. I very much enjoyed reading this book
I read this book in 3 days. It was an easy read. I very much enjoyed reading this book. I have 4 daughter's my 2 older girls are around the same age as the main character. So I totally understand the main character's ways of thinking and the things she does. Although this book has some devastating events it also has some humour. I am looking forward to reading the next book.

lol But that's because the writing was so good. Give it a read
Eerie story. I have no idea what i would do in this book's situation. lol Water is everywhere! The whole earth needs it. What happens when it becomes your enemy? How can anyone survive? I often think about what is in my city's water. lol What is in lakes, streams etc.. This didn't help my paranoia for the future. lol But that's because the writing was so good. Give it a read!! You won't be sorry.

I was honestly expecting a depressing book about toxic rain ...
I was honestly expecting a depressing book about toxic rain, but with the writing style and the manner in which the protagonist tells the story, it's actually quite compelling without being disheartening. To my shock, it actually had me smiling every now and again! I wasn't anticipating humor, but it was a welcomed surprise, especially in the beginning. Well done!
